Language is very crucial for all of people. It is because they use it for communicating in their society. In learning language, especially English subject at Seventh Junior High School, there are many text types that should be taught by the teachers to the students. So, the writer tries to analyze text types to help the students understand the structure of many text types well in order to survive in their society easily.

This research has purposes to find out the answer from the statement of the problem. They are to find out text types found in Let’s Talk published by Pakar Raya and English on Sky published by Erlangga for Seventh Grade Students of Junior High School and to find the social function, generic structures, grammatical features in “Let’s Talk published by Pakar Raya” and “English on Sky published by Erlangga for Seventh Grade Students of Junior High School.

This is a qualitative research. The data of this research is social function, generic structures, grammatical features in Let’s Talk published by Pakar Raya and English on Sky published by Erlangga for Seventh Grade Students of Junior High School.The data source in this research is Structures of Monologue Text Types found in Let’s Talk published by Pakar Raya and English on Sky published by Erlangga for Seventh Grade Students of Junior High School. Next, the writer identify and classify the monologue texts based on the genre, like descriptive, narrative, procedure, report or recount text and then analyze the structures of each monologue texts above.

The result of the research, the writer describes each text from its social function, its generic structure, and its grammatical feature. From analyzed textbook, there are eleven texts found in Let’s Talk published by Pakar Raya. They are 54.5% for descriptive, 27.3% for Narrative, 18,2% for recount. There are also ten texts found in English on Sky published by Erlangga for Seventh Grade Students of Junior High School. They are 70% for descriptive, 10% for narrative, and 20% for recount.

According to the school curriculum, the first students of SMP/MTs should get two kinds of text types. They are Descriptive and Procedure text. Thus, the choice of text types in the analyzed textbook does not fulfill the requirements which the curriculum states, because the textbook does not provide the procedure text. In the other hand, narrative and recount texts are provided even though it is not required in the school curriculum. So, the teachers should be able to decide whether the contents of the textbook are suitable with the current curriculum or not in order to help the students understand well in learning the structure of text type including its social function, generic structures, and grammatical features.

Bahasa sangat penting bagi semua orang. Ini dikarenakan mereka menggunakannya untuk berkomunikasi dengan lingkungannya. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa, khususnya pelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh, ada banyak bentuk-bentuk teks yang seharusnya diajarkan oleh guru ke siswa. Jadi, penulis mencoba untuk menganalisis bentuk-bentuk teks untuk membantu siswa mudah memahami struktur dari bentuk-bentuk teks dengan baik agar dapat berinteraksi dengan mudah di lingkungannya.

Fungsi dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk teks monolog yang terdapat pada buku teks Let’s Talkpenerbit Pakar Raya danEnglish on Skypenerbit Erlangga untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh dan untuk menganalisis social function, generic structures, grammatical features yang terdapat pada buku Let’s Talkpenerbit Pakar Raya dan English on Skypenerbit Erlangga untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh.

Ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini adalah social function, generic structures, grammatical features dari buku Let’s Talkpenerbit Pakar Raya danEnglish on Sky penerbit Erlangga untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah bentuk-bentuk teks yang terdapat pada buku teks Let’s Talkpenerbit Pakar Raya danEnglish on Skypenerbit Erlangga untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh. Selanjutnya, penulis mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan teks berdasarkan genrenya, seperti teks descriptif, narratif, prosedur, report atau recount dan kemudian menganalisis structure dari tiap teks.

Hasil dari penelitian ini, penulis mengemukakan setiap teks dari social function, generic structures, dan grammatical features. Dari analisis buku teks, ada sebelas teks yang terdapat pada buku Let’s Talkpenerbit Pakar Raya yaitu 54.5% untukdescriptive, 27.3% untuk narrative, 18,2% untuk recount. Ada sepuluh teks yang terdapat pada English on Skypenerbit Erlangga untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh yaitu 70% untuk descriptive, 10% untuk narrative, dan 20% untuk recount.

Berdasarkan kurikulum sekolah,, siswa Sekolah Menengah Tingkat Pertama kelas tujuh seharusnya mendapatkan dua jenis bentuk teks yaitu teks DescriptivedanProcedur text. Sehingga bentuk teks dalam analisis kedua buku tidak memenuhi persyaratan yang ada didalam kurikulum karena buku tersebut tidak menyediakan Procedur text. Sebaliknya, narrative text dan recount text disediakan meskipun tidak dianjurkan di dalam kurikulum. Jadi, guru seharusnya mampu memutuskan untuk memilih isi buku teks yang sesuai dengan kurikulum agar membantu siswa memahami bentuk-bentuk teks termasuk social function, generic structures, grammatical features.
