Analysis of Magazine Adverts

Page 2: Analysis of magazine adverts

This is an album magazine advert from Lana Del Rey promoting her album 'Born To Die'. I think it's a very effective advert as the artist and album title are in very bold fonts which makes it very easy to read. The artists name is at the top so it jumps out at the reader and if they recognise the name thy might be more inclined to look at the rest of the advert and buy the album. I also like the colours in this advert as they complement each other and the white font on blue background and blue font on the white background contrast nicely. It is a good idea to have a picture of the artist on the advert as people might recognise her and be interested in buying her album. Also, i like this image as it is quite simple but there is a nice effect over it to make it even more eye catching and appealing to the audience.

This is an advert for an Arctic Monkeys album. I like how simple this advert is as it makes it look very neat and minimalistic. I also like that it ties in with what the actual album cover looks like as this will help people to find and buy it after they have seen the advert. They have used their usual logo at the top so people will recognise it very easily. There is not much writing on this but I think this simplicity is useful as it helps just to highlight the key information that needs to be on an album magazine advert - the artists name, the album title and the release date. I might do something similar to this for my own advert, but I might also include some critic reviews and a list of the singles form the album so it might make readers more interested in buying it.

This magazine advert is very simplistic, with a large image and bright red colour used to grab attention. The largest font is 'Olly Murs', which is the name of the artist and the album title, making it the most important information, which is why it has been designed in such a way to stand out the most. This follows the conventions of a typical album magazine advert. 'The Debut Album' and the date of release are the next largest text, instantly informing the reader what is being advertised and when it can be purchased. In smaller writing, there are two released singles mentioned, to grab the attention of those who are familiar with the mentioned singles. All the information included on this advert are things that are conventionally included in album magazine adverts. Although the picture of Olly Murs is in black and white, it still stands out to a degree because the rest of the advert is mostly red, and also because it has such a unique design. The picture of Olly Murs is the same as the picture used on his album cover, as is the font, and the colours. This shows that there is a lot of consistency, continuity and similarity between the album cover and the magazine advert for the album. This is a convention of album magazine adverts.
