About the 24-Credit Program Subject Area Graduation Requirements of 24-

Credit Program

English 4 credits, with major concentration in composition, reading for information, and literature.

Mathematics 4 credits, one of which must be Algebra 1 or its equivalent and one of which must be in geometry or its equivalent, or a higher-level math course.

Science 3 credits in science, two of which must have a laboratory component.

Social Studies 1 credit world history1 credit United States History0.5 credit United States Government0.5 credit economics

Foreign Language Not required for high school graduation, but required for admission into state universities.

Fine arts or Performing Arts,(Practical Arts)

1 credit in fine or performing arts, speech and debate, or practical arts (eligible courses specified in Course Code Directory)

Physical Education 1 credit in physical education to include the integration of health.

Electives 8 credits (0.5 FLVS)

Total 24 creditsState Assessment Requirements Passing scores on the Grade 10 FCAT

2.0 Reading or scores on a standardized test that are concordant with the passing scores on the FCAT (ACT or SAT [Scholarship Aptitude Test])

Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements

Cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

Students graduate with:◦ 5 Math credits◦ 5 Science credits◦ 3 Spanish credits

At YWPA…

Allows eligible high school students to enroll in post-secondary courses.

Credits earned: ◦ Both:

High school credit College credit towards a degree or technical certificate.

All 24 Florida colleges and some state universities participate in Dual Enrollment.

The courses can be taken:◦ Part-time basis during school hours.◦ After School◦ During Summer

Dual Enrollment and Early Admission

Students do not have to pay anything. Textbooks to students are provided free of

charge. The grades obtained through dual

enrollment at Florida colleges and universities will become part of the permanent post-secondary record.

States universities will not admit a student who has less than a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Nationwide program by The College Board. Consists of:
