HOW SCARY IS THIS?

Why Globalize?Shouldn’t I be afraid it will change my culture? It’s not TESTED on the EOCs / EOGs….We’re in different time zones…

It can be overwhelming…

•We will look at tools•We will talk about ideas

•Hopefully you will leave with an idea

Step one is to examine your course. What Global Outreach would fit your curriculum, your timeframe, your classes.

Some things to consider…1.Do you want to learn about another culture or actively participate in a cultural exchange?2.Do you have something to offer?3.If you envision a project with your class, what would be your desired outcome.4.Will a failure to complete a project deter you from trying again next year?

The fact that our world is now so connected makes cultural exchange easier than ever before

"China, India, South Korea, and Japan have

invested in making sure that their kids have

access to the technology and the literacy skills that they see as a key

to their economic future."

A myriad of tools, mostly free, await you. Envision an idea: a way

to connect your curriculum and your kids

to their global counterparts…then simply do a search. Try SKYPE, try Twitter, find like minded people who have ideas to share. Most importantly, ask your kids how it could be done. That takes

learning to a new level.

Use the computer in your classroom or your media center to reach

out to the world. Show your kids the

safe and responsible way to

do it.
