NOTE FROM PASTOR RANDY

I’m writing this on Tuesday, May

21st

, one day after the devastating

tornado swept through Moore,

OK obliterating everything in its path. I watched the

Weather Channel’s live coverage of the twister as it

slowly moved across Moore’s neighborhoods,

shopping centers, farms, and schools. It was clear

by the storm’s size, power and duration that

people would be left homeless, injured and

possibly dead. The news coverage following the

40+ minutes of the tornado’s rampage confirmed

those suspicions. As of today, there are hundreds

left homeless, over 100 injured & taken to

hospitals, 51 confirmed deaths and more than 100

missing. When tragedies like this occur I’m

reminded of the fragility and uncertainty of life.

Similar thoughts prompted David to pray, “Lord,

remind me how brief my time on earth will be.

Remind me that my days are numbered, and that

my life is fleeing away. My life is no longer than the

width of my hand. An entire lifetime is just a

moment to you; human existence is but a breath.

We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy

rushing ends in nothing . . . And so, Lord, where do

I put my hope? My only hope is in You” (Ps. 39:4-7,

NLT). It’s sad to think that some who perished

Monday had put their hope in something or some-

one other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Where have

you put your hope? ~ Pastor Randy

It is graduation season! For high

school and college graduates this is a

time of immense joy and satisfaction.

In most cases years have been spent

with this goal in mind. Not only do

these accomplishments involve celebration, but they also

mark a major milestone in life. For high school

graduates they will either move on to college or enter the

work force. For college graduates they begin to enter

their professional career. I want to take a few moments

and speak to our high school graduates of MBC. All of

our high school graduates this year are moving on to

college, so I specifically want to give you a few

suggestions/words of encouragement.

1. Find a local church to be involved in.

2. Involve yourself in a Christian fellowship group

that takes discipleship seriously.

3. Focus on your studies. This is why you are in

college.

4. Use wisdom in all your decisions.

5. Many people meet their spouses in college. Be

sure God is in your relationships.

6. Pray daily.

7. Read your Bible daily.

8. Avoid destructive behavior.

9. Be a good roommate.

10. Be sure your top priority remains your

relationship with God.

Know that as you move away from MBC that I will be

praying for each of you and if you ever need someone to

talk to I am just a phone call away. ~ Pastor Brendon
