HealthA condition of your physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing. Each part of your health is equally important. To be healthy, you must balance all of these parts.

HeredityHeredity is the passing down of traits from a parent to a child. A trait is a characteristic that a person has. The traits that are the easiest to identify are those that affect the way you look.

For example: hair color, eye color, height, skin color are all traits controlled by heredity.

EnvironmentYour environment is everything around you, including the things you cannot see. Many factors in your environment can affect your health.

For example: the air may contain particles that cause you to cough or that initiate an allergic response.

LifestyleA set of behaviors by which you live. The choices you make affect your lifestyle. Some choices have a short term effect on your life, others will have a long term effect or affect you for your whole life.

AttitudeYour attitude is the way you act, think, or feel that causes you to make one choice over another. Having a healthy attitude will help you say no when appropriate, give you confidence to make good choices, and make a positive difference in your life.

Preventive Healthcare

Taking necessary steps to prevent illness or accidents. It requires ACTION. Buckle your seatbelt, wear a helmet, refuse to smoke, these are all preventive healthcare measures. Being PROACTIVE about your health.

Life SkillsSkills that help you deal with situations that can affect your health. The more life skills you have the better you can control your health and your life.

Refusal SkillsA refusal skill is a way to say no to something that you don’t want to do. It requires practice and you need to understand and feel strongly about the things you want to avoid. If you don’t know where you stand on an issue, giving into pressure may be easy.

HygieneThe practice of keeping clean. Cleanliness helps prevent the spread of diseases.
