The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more

peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the IB

works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop

challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These

programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other

people, with their differences, can also be right.

*An annual fee of $400 per student is anticipated. This is in alignment with other IB PYP schools in West Vancouver.

*Increased staffing

*.2 IB PYP Coordinator

*.3 Increased Kindergarten – Grade 7 Music Specialist = .7 Total Music Specialist time

*.3 Increased Kindergarten – Grade 7 PE Specialist = .7 Total PE Specialist time

*Outside Funding

*Federal French Board-held funds will be accessed to support the implementation of this program. As the IB PYP program resources are available in French, this will be an appropriate use of these funds.

*What do the costs cover?

* Shared Global Internationally recognized curriculum

* Connections to professional learning communities from around the world

* Increased staffing to provide collaborative time for teachers – specialists for students

* IB coordinator on staff

* Pro-d for staff including workshops and conferences

* Use of all IB curriculum and materials

* Funds for enrichment opportunities such as fieldtrips and guest speakers

* External support from consultants and evaluators

* Membership fees for IBO
