Lemm Procedures

• Turn off cell phones once you enter Lemm• Remove hats • Practice opening ziplock bags, milk, granola

packages at home. (This helps them at lunch)

• Know how to use seat belt. (This expedites car rider lines)

• Know name, address, parent’s names, birthday, phone number.

• Students need to know their first and last name and how to spell them. Please go over this at home.

• Students need to know their address and phone number.

• Attendance is very important! • For every 4th tardy conduct grade will

be reduced. • Class begins at 8:00.• Tardy bell rings at 8:20

GRADING GUIDELINES

• Major grades-50%• Minor grades-40% • Homework-10%• Reading-3 major/8 minor• Language-3 major/5 minor• Math-3 major/8 minor• Science -3 major/6 minor• Social Studies -3 major/6 minor

Parent Connection

• Your child’s grades will be available to you online so you can monitor their progress.

• Parents can set up grade triggers to notify them if grade drops below parent set expectations.

Homework• Students should read at least 15

minutes every night. Books can be read with someone or independently. Please sign choice boards.

• Spelling words are assigned on Mondays and tests are given on Fridays. STUDY!

• Math Fact Fluency will be given on Monday and needs to be returned on Fridays signed.

• Daily Math homework is due the following day unless otherwise noted.

Homework BreakdownWill be given Monday through Thursday.

ELA- Monday/Wednesday -Choice Board

Math- Tuesday/Thursday- Math sheet from the book

Review of skill taught in class during the week.

Science Study Guides

• Science Study Guides will be glued in the science journal 1 week prior to the test.

• Students need to do the work on the study guide once glued into their journal.

• Students need to fill in any vocabulary or questions• Work on the study guide throughout the week so that it

is not overwhelming to your child.• Students need to start working on good study habits

with you.• Parents sign the study guide the night BEFORE the

test.

Math • There will not be a math study

guide • Go over homework and

assignments that go home weekly. • Most times our website will have

example type problems on the testing information breakdown.

E-Instruction• Some assignments/assessments will be

administered using e-instruction.• Grades are not recorded on paper.

Please check Gradespeed regularly to see student grades.

• Math e-instruction grades will be recorded on paper only when

computations are required.

Behavior Plan•Discipline Chart with recorded behaviors for the day

•Money – Positive behavior earns your child money that they can use to buy items from the classroom store.

•Students are responsible for their money. They need to keep it in their plastic bag or pencil bag.

•Not following classroom/school procedures and homework requirements will result in their work habit grade being adjusted accordingly.

•Tuesday folders will document behavior infractions.

• Please discuss these infractions with your child so that they can work on correcting their behavior.

What Does an End of the Year Second Grader Look

Like?

READING and LANGUAGE• Reads on a level M book with a fluency

rate of 90 wpm with comprehension• Writes complete sentences using correct

punctuation.• Can write a meaningful story that has

details and correct grammar.

What Does an End of the Year Second Grader Look Like?

Math (these are some NOT ALL)

• Recalling Basic Facts to add/subtract with automaticity• Multiple Step Word Problems • Adding/Subtracting to the thousands with regrouping• Multiplication Meaning • Telling Time to the minute• Counting a collection of coins• Shapes and their attributes• Graphing

What can you do to help?

• Check homework • If there are mistakes have your child make

corrections.• Practice math facts nightly.• Go through tests and assignments with your

child. • Create new problems from these and work on

them together.

Book Orders

• Scholastic books is the cheapest way to order books.

• Please send a CHECK ONLY with your child made out to Scholastic with school orders.

• You can now order online!

Family Participation

• Please plan to get involved in school activities this year!

• Studies show that students are much more successful when their families are involved with their teacher to create a team atmosphere!

• Volunteers must complete a background check!
