Trimester vs. Traditional Semester

Trimester allows flexibility

◦ 4 or 5 classes/trimester

◦ 4 classes + off-roll period (all 4 years)

Equals same course load as “traditional semester”

Can still fit in all HS graduation & college requirements

◦ 5 classes/trimester

Extra/heavier academic load

Opportunity to explore or fit in-depth area of interest

Great for athletes to take off roll

Band, ASB, Yearbook, etc. fit well as 5th class

Off Roll

What is it?

“Off Roll” is a time in the student’s day when they are not enrolled in a class.

Students who are passing their courses can choose up to one off roll period per trimester.

◦ 1st Period Off Roll = Any 9th Grade Student

◦ 5th Period Off Roll = 9th Grade Students who earn a 3.0 GPA or above in their previous grading period
