Select – Make a Data Disc

Use this option to backup

your files

This works best to use

files on other

machines

Select - Make a Data Disc for Sharing with Others

Insert a blank CD or hit Next if you have already done so.

Click Add Files and Folders

You can change the CD Volume Label here, but

it is not required.

Browse to location of files to save.Click on the files and then hit Add

You will see the file size and space available on the CD. You can continue to add files if there is room.

Other file selection notes:

The program will not let you choose too many files (total size larger than the CD).

You can select entire folders, or click in the folder for specific files.

You can highlight a group of files to save, or you can hold the CTRL key and click on various files to save.

Leave a little extra room on the CD – don’t try to fill it completely. (Make sure you know the CD capacity.)

Blank CDs are inexpensive. Don’t worry about trying to add files to a used CD – just use a new one.

There are CDRW disks (re-writeable), but they are slower to save, and may not hold data as reliably.

Don’t use the computer while it is recording the CD.

CD Creation Progress can be seen

When complete, the CD will be ejected.Click DONE at this point, and you can close the program.

Final Notes:

Check your new CD to make sure that your files are there and accessible.

Occasionally a CD recording fails – sometimes at the very end of the procedure. That CD is probably no longer useable. You will have to try again, and may have to use a different CD brand or capacity.

You can write on the CD (label side) using a permanent marker. You should date your CD and indicate contents. For detailed content listing, use a CD case and label.
