• A corporate lawyer is a lawyer who specializes in corporate law

• Corporate lawyers make sure that business contracts and transactions are legal

• Serve as advocates which deal with financial issues in a trial involving illegal contracts and other illegal moves

• Serve as advisors which advises a client on how to deal with financial issues such as competition. And advise them about what is legal for a contract.

Work Environment

• Corporate lawyers spend most of their time working in their office, law libraries, and courtrooms

• Occasionally they may go to hospitals or even prison for meetings

Education And Training Required • A law degree

– To obtain a law degree prospective lawyers must first graduate from high school and college

– After college, they need to get a Juris Doctorate) from a law school, which is usually 3 years

• Pass the Bar Exam– They must pass an exam by the American Bar

Association. Each state has a different exam

Additional training includes:

• Working with a lawyer

• Do research at a university

• Take extra writing and communication courses during or after law school
