Central Research Laboratory
The University has setup Central Research Laboratory in pursuance of its vision
to promote interdisciplinary research between basic and clinical sciences.
The Centre is equipped with experimental facilities for research in the area of
Genomics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cytogenetics and Phytochemistry.
The Centre is housed in a dedicated centrally air-conditioned area of 8000
square feet.
The Centre is managed by a team of 2 Senior Scientists and 4 Research
Assistants.
Some of the areas of active research in the Centre are: Congenital
malformation in children, Congenital Heart Disease, Oral cancer, Preeclamptic
Toxemia, Immunogenetics of Infectious Diseases, Pharmacogenomics,
Anticancer compounds from plants, Proteins of therapeutic interest etc.
The Centre has established collaboration with external laboratories through
MoU for advanced research in the area of Next Generation Sequencing.
The Centre has received grant-in-aid support from the Department of Health
Research. Govt. of India to conduct National Training Programme in the area of
Genetics for the faculty of medical colleges in India.
Scientific and technical resources of the Centre are utilised by Ph.D. scholars,
Junior Research Fellows, P.G. students (for dissertation/project work) and by
U.G. students (for ICMR STS projects). Research activities of the Centre has
