ProjectconstructionforColumbiaContainersLtd.’sGrainTrans-loadingFacilityandSilosproject(permitPP2013-123fromtheVancouverFraserPortAuthority)at2275CommissionerStreethasbeenunderwaysinceApril2017.Anareaof1200sfisbeingaddedtotheprojecttohouseacollectionofsmallstaffrooms:afirstaidroom,changerooms,lunchroom,andasingleoffice.Awinchshelterhasalsobeenaddedtoprotectthewinchmachineryfromweather.

• Anaddedshelterisrequiredoverawinchlocatedontopofthereceivingshed• Thewinchisusedtoraisecontainersforunloadingintothereceivinghoppers• Theshelterwillprovideweatherprotectionfortheequipmentandrailshed• Regularmaintenancecanbehandledwithinacontrolledandsafeenvironment

ConstructionImpacts

ThereceivingshedadditionsofthestaffroomandwinchshelterwillbeincorporatedwithintheGrainTrans-loadingFacilityprojectwhichiscurrentlyundergoingconstruction.TheoverallprojectisexpectedtobecompletebyApril30,2018.Specificallythestaffrooms

NeighbourhoodImpacts

Oncecompleted,theadditionsareexpectedtohaveminimalviewandlightimpactstothecommunitybecausethefutureelevatortothesouthwillshieldmostoftheadditionsfromview.Furtherthechangesarecontainedwithinthevisualenvelopeoftheelevatorstructure,andwillbeinkeepingwiththecharacterofsuchanindustrialfacility.AddedlightingisminimalandmeetstheEastVancouverPortLandsandLiaisonCommittee(EVPL)lightingpolicies.Thewinchcoverwillshieldanylightingrequiredduringnighttimemaintenance,andassuchitactstoreducelightingemittedfromthefacility.
