•Usingtheneedlenosepliers,pullthefourwiresfromtheirgroovesexposing11/8inch(28mm)ofwirelesscore.

• Cutoff1inch(25mm)ofthecorewithoutdamagingthewires.

• Usetheohmmetertomeasuretheresistancebetweentheblackwires.Theresistancemustbegreaterthan20megohms(metermayread:∞O.L.,etc.).

• Ifthemeasurementislessthan20megohms,thecableiswetorcontaminatedandmustberemoved, inspected and cleaned and/or dried.

•Notethelargetabcutoutaroundrimof connector. Position the large tab at 12o’clockposition,seebelow.

• Usepermanentinkmarkertomarkflatportionofconnectorbodybehindthe large tab.

• Forthepinconnector(PartA)only,slip the spinner ring, large hole first, onto the connector.

• AttachTT-MET-MCandTT-FET-MCto socket and pin connector (Parts BandA)touseasaholdertoavoidburningfingerswhileapplyingheat.

• Graspthewiretipswiththeneedlenosepliers.• Pullthewiresintotheirgroovesandlightlytugtostraightenwithoutstretching.

• Cutthewirestoleave3/4inch(19mm)protrudingfromthe cable end.

• Carefullystrip1/2inch(13mm)ofinsulationfromeachofthewires(use26awgslot).

• Keepwiresinthesameorderthattheyexitfromthecableend.• SlideaSolderSleevesplice(smallendfirst)ontoeachwire,allthewaytothecableend.

• Thesolderringmustlieoverbareconductor,notinsulation.

• Wireendsmustextendbeyondthesolderrings.

• HeattheSolderSleevesuntiltheyhaveshrunkfullyandthesolderringshavemeltedandflowed.Keep the heat source moving to avoid charring the connector.

• Carefullyremoveassemblyfromheat.Holdconnectorandcablesteadyandallowtocool.Movingsolderjointwhenhotcanweakentheconnection.

• Onceyellowwireisalignedcorrectlytothemarkonconnectorbody,theredwirewillbeoppositetoitandallwireswillbeintheircorrectpositions.

• Orienttheconnectorandpush aligned connector posts into the SolderSleeves.

• VerifytheSolderSleeveendsareinsidethebackoftheconnector.

•Makesurethesolderbandsareincontactwithconnectorpostsandthewires.

• SlideSCTlabeledheat-shrinkabletubeovertheassembly.

•Heatshrink1/4inch(6mm)ofthetubeontotheconnector,movingtheheatsourcearoundthetubetoheatevenly.

• Leaveasmallgap(1/16inch{1.5mm})betweenthetubeandthe ribbed section of the connector.

• Donotoverheat

Thetubemayslipoffoftheconnectorifitisoverheated.

• Allowtocoolbeforeproceeding.

•Heatshrinkthetubingstartingattheconnectorend,avoidingthealreadyshrunksection.Keeptheheatsourcemovingslowlyto avoid charring.

• Continueheatingafterthetubesurfaceissmooth to ensure that the internal adhesive flowsfreely.

• Heatthetubeuniformlyuntiladhesiveflowsfromtheendtoensureawaterresistantseal.

•Whilethetubeisstillhot,inspecttheexposed adhesive at the tubing/cable interface.Ifavoidisvisible,useagloveorragtosqueezethetubeslightlyandfillthevoidwithmoltenadhesive.

• Removeheatandimmediatelyproceedtonext step.

cAution: Burn Hazard. Do not get hot adhesive on yourbareskin.Thehotadhesivewillburnyourskin.

•Whilethetubingisstillhot,placetubinginthesmalleropeningofthecrimptool.AlignopeningwithSolderSleeve/cablearea.CrimpSCTtubingtocoolandseal.Openandrotatecrimptool90degreesandcrimpagaintoensureproper adherence to cable.

• Ifthetubinghasmovedmorethan1/8inch(3mm)offthethreaded connector, push the hot tubing back to the original positionwhilesupportingassemblyusingholderendtermination.Youmayhavetoreheatthetube.Holdthetoolinplacewhileitcoolsthetube.

• Removethecrimptoolandlettheassemblyfinishcooling.

electrical test• Attachthematingtest-tool-halftotheconnectortobe

tested.• Ifbothcableendshaveconnectors,attachamatingendterminationattheoppositeend.Ifthereisnoconnectoron the opposite cable end, prepare it according to steps 1 and2.Thentwisttogetherwires1&2andwires3&4.

• Useanohmmetertomeasuretheresistancebetweenthetest tool posts.

• Theresistancebetweenthe2longestpostsorthe2shortestpostsshouldbe≈4xcablelength(ft.)(i.e.A100ft.(30m)cableshouldmeasure≈400Ωbetweenthetwolongestpostsand≈400Ωbetweenthetwoshortestposts.)

• Theresistancebetweenthe2intermediatelengthpostsshould be greater than 20 megohms.

• Iftheassemblyfailsanyoftheresistancetests;1) Checkthatthe2blackwiresarenottouchingatthe

opposite cable end.2) Ifnecessary,cutoffanddiscardtheconnectorand

installanewone.

• Removetheendtermination.• Forthepinconnector,thespinnerringmustturnfreely.Ifnecessary,gentlyuseplierstobreakitfree.

• Beforematingtheconnectorassemblies,slidetheunlabeledshrinktube(PartE)ontooneofthecables.Connectthepinandsocketconnectorstogetherfirmly.Centertheunlabeledshrinktubeoverthepin/socketconnection.Heatshrinkthetubeovertheconnection,beginninginthecenterandshrinkingtowardstheendsuntilthetubefullyconformstotheshapeofthecon-nectionandadhesiveflowsfromeachendofthetube.

• AvoidoverheaatingPartE.ThethinwallunlabeledshrinktubingrequireslessheatthantheSCTcableshrinktubing.

•Lettheentireconnectorareacoolbeforehandlingthecable.Note:Donotleaveconnectoropentoenvironment.Iftheconnectorbecomeswetorcontaminated,itwillneedtobereplaced.
