DESCRIPTION
Born from a fascination with Russian literature, my project focuses on The Seagull (1896), Anton Pavlovich Chekhov’s first ‘mature’ work as a playwright and selected as the archetype of his personal beliefs. Analysed as an Existential text, informed by Søren Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling (1843), it was interpreted as the confrontation of the individual with the detrimental effects of mundane preoccupations. This comparative analysis was accompanied by a speculative architectural intervention.
