WEEKLY MEDLEY October 6, 2019
Q & A you can absolutely use: Q: How can we tell what belongs to the true faith? A: We find the true faith in Sacred Scripture and in the living Tradition of the Church. (CCC 76, 80-82,85-87,97,100).
Quote from Pope Benedict XVI : “There is an urgent need for the emergence of a new generation of apostles anchored firmly in the word of Christ, capable of responding to the challenges of our times and prepared to spread the Gospel far and wide.”
Uh-oh: Little Benny and his daddy were standing in front of the lion's cage at the zoo. Benny's father was explaining how ferocious and strong lions are, and Benny was taking it all in with a serious expression. Daddy," Benny said finally, "if the lion got out of his cage and ate you up..." "Yes, son?" Benny's father said expectantly, thinking that his son is worried about him. Benny continued, "What bus should I take home?"
What is the meaning of the word ‘Apostle?’ It is taken from the Greek word ‘apostolos,’ meaning messenger or envoy. In the New Testament, the term initially was used for the twelve men who were called by Jesus to be his closest collaborators and witnesses. Paul, too, was privileged to consider himself an apostle called by Christ.

Dear Friends in Christ,
A short fervorino from our Gospel reading this weekend. Faith can be elusive, when we are not tempted. It can be difficult to grasp, when we are at peace. It can be harder to appreciate, when things are going our way. But, faith is be er understood when we are faced with a crisis, when a sudden and threatening illness confronts us or our loved ones, or when a devasta ng accident or a life-changing moment befalls us.
We are living witnesses to this affirma on. When the towers went crumbling down 18 years ago, thousand of people rekindled their rela onship with God. Without faith, where would we have been? Our Judeo-Chris an tradi on strengthened us through all forms and kinds of war—external and internal.
That is because we have faith.
Have faith, therefore. Even when the strictures of society fall beyond our expecta ons and grasp, have faith. Even when we hear and see some of the nega ve things and impressions in our world and in our church, have faith. Even when we fail beyond what we challenged ourselves to be, have faith.
With prayers and love,
Fr. PJ

On the Sign of the Cross “The most basic Chris an gesture in prayer is and always will be the sign of the cross. By signing ourselves we place ourselves under the protec on of the cross; we hold it in front of us like a shield that will guard us in all the distress of daily life and give us the courage to go on. It is our visible and public Yes to Him.”

Here’s One Positive Encouragement
Written by a fellow parishioner
“Animal crackers and cocoa to drink, that is the finest of suppers I think. When I am grown up and can have what I please, I think I shall always insist upon these”. This is an excerpt from a child's poem. Now while the child was fortunate enough to have parents that would allow the gift of animal crackers and cocoa for supper once in a while, the child had a responsibility that went along with that gift, that being, no crumbs on the floor and do not spill the cocoa.
Whenever we receive a gift, it is our responsibility to be thankful for it and to use it wisely. How are you using the gift of life with a soul that was gifted to you by God? Do you act responsibly towards your body and God? Do you wisely listen to your inner voice (your soul)? Have you thought about why did God gave you the gift of life and what is your responsibility to Him while you are here on earth? Have you thought about what is your earthly mission?
