PTO AND ACTIVATION KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSAlways wear safety glasses. Read entire manual before starting installation.

IMPORTANT: Disconnect vehicle battery prior to installing electrical and electric/hydraulic activation kits.

A. Vehiclemanufacturersmayhavespecificlocationsforaccessingelectricalpowerandactivating pneumatics. The body builder manual or company representative for the vehicle chassis should be contacted prior to installing electrical or pneumatic systems.

B. Routewiresandactivationlinesawayfromrotatingandhightemperaturecomponents.Useappropriateloomsandbulkheadpass-thru’swhereverpossibletoavoidrubbingthroughinsulation or tubing and causing an electrical short or oil leak.

C.FollowallFederalMotorVehicleSafetyStandards(FMVSS)foryourvehicle.

D.Whereelectricalgroundsareindicated,besurethattheyaregoodgrounds,withstraightpathstothevehiclebatteryground(manyvehiclecabsareinsulatedfromthevehicleframeandaweakgroundisaverycommoncauseformalfunctions).

E. CautionshouldbetakenbyinstallerwithanyPTOinstallationtoinsurecomponentsdonotinterferewithanychassiscomponentduringinstallationorwhenvehicleisoperated.

• ThePTOairsupplyfortheshiftingofthePTOmustbesuppliedthroughapressureprotectionvalvesuppliedbythevehiclemanufacturerotherwisetheirsystemcannotbeusedfortheMunciePTO.

• FortheMuncie82SeriesPTOonly,themaximumacceptablepneumaticFlowCoefficientisCv=0.12.Cvvalueshigherthan0.12maycausefailure.

• AircontrolvalveswithCvratingsgreaterthan0.12requireaflowrestrictioninthedisconnectexhaustporttoachieveshiftcontrol.A¹⁄₃₂"(0.031inch)orificewillprovide adequatecontrol.

• IfthevehicleisnotorderedwiththePTOactivationoptionthenrefertopage3fortheinstallationoftheMunciecomponents.BesuretoprogramtheTCUasmentionedbelow.

• ContactthevehiclemanufacturerorBodyBuildermanualsforinstructionsandlocationsofthechassis connections.

•TheEatonEndurantTCUmustbeprogrammedwiththeproperVocationalControlLogicforthePTOapplicationyouareusing.Ifthevehicleisorderedwiththeapplicationshown,thenthefactoryshouldhaveprogrammedtheTCU.Otherwise,thisisaccomplishedbyusingtheEaton“ServiceRanger4”softwareandNexiqtool.ContactEatonforthissoftwareanditsapplication.

Stationary PTO OperationToengagethePTOforstationaryoperationperformthefollowingsteps:1. Apply the parking brake.2. Depresstheservicebrake.3. PTOengagementmustbemadefromneutral.4. Select“N”ontheShiftControl5. EngagethePTO.6. ReleasetheservicebraketoengagetheclutchandpowerthePTO.

Mobile PTO OperationProvideslimitedmobileoperationin2ndandR2only.ToengagethePTOformobileoperationperformthefollowingsteps:1. Apply the parking brake.2. Depresstheservicebrake.3. PTOengagementmustbemadefromneutral.4. Select“N”ontheShiftControl5. EngagethePTO.6. ReleasetheservicebraketoengagetheclutchandpowerthePTO.

7. Select“D”,“Manual”,“Neutral”,or“Reverse”,asrequiredforvehiclemovement.Releasetheparking brake.

8.Raisetheenginespeedasrequiredtomovevehicle/operatePTO.
