IMPROVING EFFLUENT TREATMENT WITH HIGHER FIELD TEMPERATURESBeaver Plastic’s TERMINATOR Insulated Effluent Chambersare the next generation in effluent treatment field technology, with unique features that provide far more effective effluenttreatment than old style black plastic chambers or ‘rock andpipe’ installations. Effluent treatment is a biochemical process, and the effectiveness of this activity depends on both temperatureand oxygen. Since TERMINATOR chambers are manufacturedfrom structural grade high R-value expanded polystyrene, theymaintain a higher temperature in the effluent field. Increasingthe field temperature has a profound effect on the rate ofbiochemical activity, the process that cleans effluent andneutralizes dangerous organisms. The TERMINATORinsulating chamber also prevents fields from freezing in periodsof low snow and extended cold. A frozen field is often the causeof effluent back up in winter and subsequent disruption ofthe entire sewage system.

OXYGEN PERMEABLE CHAMBER WALLSAlong with a warm operating temperature, biochemical activity in thefield requires oxygen for effluent treatment. Older styles of field chambersused slits or vents to allow air into the chamber cavities. These slitsalso allowed heat to escape, as well as soil to run in. TERMINATORchambers are air-permeable over their entire surfaces, allowing oxygento diffuse into the chamber cavity, but restricting heat loss, therebyproviding the best possible environment for complete effluent treatment. The chamber design eliminates the need for geocloth soil barriers. Lighthandling, no sharp edges and simple to install with the new soil-tightand flexible connections, TERMINATOR chambers have become thepremium chambers of the wastewater industry.

LARGEST SOIL AREA FOR OPTIMUM INFILTRATIONThe basic chamber is the TERMINATOR Type A. This is alarge volume chamber with the greatest bottom soil infiltrationarea of any chamber system in its class on the market. Itis used in standard weeping lateral trench systems, as wellas mounds and sand filters. Because it is manufactured ofexpanded polystyrene, it can be easily cut and mitered toproduce custom configurations in order to be installed indifficult topographies. The TERMINATOR Type A can alsoprovide thermal protection in deep burial, as it has beenfield tested to 8 feet depth. The chamber is highly suitedto permafrost installations and more complex effluenttreatment systems.

Beaver manufactures several TERMINATOR models for themost challenging environments. The TERMINATOR Type AStandard is used in traditional weeping lateral trenches, aswell as mounds and sand filters. The TERMINATOR LowProfile (LP) is useful in shallow bury installations, whereprotection from freezing is a concern, providing the same frostprotection at one foot burial as a standard non-insulatedchamber at two foot depth. Certain septic systems can useTERMINATOR AG “At-Grade” surface distribution of effluent, and Beaver produces several TERMINATOR custom profilesfor site specific applications.

PRODUCT CERTIFICATION• The Terminator Type A has been independently tested

and certified in accordance with the AASHTO (AmericanAssociation of State Highway and Traffic Officials) H-10Standard, supporting a 16,000 pound load.

• Terminator chambers meet IAMPO PS 63-99A Material andProperty Standard for Plastic Leaching Chambers,International Association of Plumbing and MechanicalOfficials.

ADDITIONAL PRODUCTSEnd caps and splash pans are available for the appropriatemodels. Beaver also manufactures pipe supports to elevatepressure distribution tubing inside chambers. TerminatorFrost Boxes are used to insulate delivery lines to and fromthe septic tank. As well, Beaver can provide products andinformation on how to properly insulate the septic tank, inorder to conserve heat and protect the tank from freezing ifleft dormant for extended periods in freezing conditions.

Beaver Plastics also produces virtually any configuration forOriginal Equipment Manufacturers to use in their packagedtreatment plants and other proprietary products. ContactBeaver for more information.

SHIPPING AND PACKAGING INFORMATIONThe Terminator Type A, LP, and AG are all available in both4 foot and 8 foot lengths. The Type A and LP models are strapped 54 to a pallet.Moulded end caps, splash pads and other complementaryproducts are packaged separately.
