The Break In

This happened around ten years ago while we were still living in South Africa. I was three at the time this

happened. I lived in a nice area with a couple of neighbouring houses. Behind our house was a garden with a

little shed and beyond the wall in the back yard was a seemingly endless forest and on the front side of our

house was our front porch, drive way and a garden with one lemon tree.

While my brother and I were sleeping soundly, we woke up to hearing things tapping on our bedroom window.

I woke up first then my brother. We were young and confused, so we went to wake up our parents, they were

confused due to how late it was and we were supposed to be asleep.

After we explained to our parents that we heard something tapping on our window, my dad got out of bed to

go and check what it was. Before he got outside, he saw someone through the window. He grabbed the

house axe just as fast had he had called the police. As he went out into the dark of night, just then he

realized the intruder had escaped into the forest beyond the back yard wall.
