SUBARU AXLE REPLACEMENT RELATED VIBRATION ISSUE

Original Equipment Subaru Trans Mount (Hollow Rubber)

causes off center vibration when new axle is installed.

The design of the TrakMotive Heavy Duty

replacement axles eliminates the binding issue

encountered on vehicles where the transmission has

either shifted away from center or experiences

movement during acceleration.

Subaru transmission mounts used in certain applications are susceptible to becoming very

spongy and worn out due to unique movement of the boxer (cylinders horizontally opposed)

engine. When these mounts wear they cause the engine/trans to sit slightly off center and

this causes the inboard joint of the CV joint to wear due to the strain.

When a NEW CV Axle is installed in vehicle with worn mount, the axle acts like the mount

that is holding the transmission in the correct location. This causes a binding vibration to

occur, which can possible be felt at idle. The new axle is assumed to be the reason for the

binding as the vehicle did not have vibration prior to installation.

Note: Installation of reman axle normally results with minimal or no vibration because the

reman units is already worn. A used unit is only reground to make the surface smooth, so the

reman unit will never be as tight (articulation angle) as new unit.
