St Smoothies

Episode 1 "One night in A&E"

In which the crack A&E team tackle a tragic carton

perforation…

Warning: you may find some of the images in this week's

episode distressing - especially if you like your juice

Innocent arrived at the St Smoothies Hospital A&E late one night having overdone it on the dancefloor. Suffering severe fruity haemorrhage from a perforation it wasn't looking good..

The crash team immediately took juice samples and Innocent was hooked up to a fruity drip.

All the while the medics shouted important sounding things like ‘run a chem 7’, ‘get me chest rads’ and ‘has anyone seen my stethoscope?’

X-rays showed a major perforation on the lower carton thorax, just cranial to the ingredient list.. things were looking bleak.

The decision was made to prep Innocent for theatre… this was going to take more than a bit of sticky backed plastic and an empty cornflakes box to repair..

Innocent was rushed into theatre where St Smoothies crack team of surgeons and anaesthetists set to work with some shiny but nonetheless very sharp tools

Innocent made it through surgery, although at times it had been touch and go. The team had needed to eat many chocolate digestives to keep them going through the wee hours.

The patient was pronounced to be in a critical condition and was moved into intensive care where he was hooked up to an important looking machine

Suddenly the squiggly line on the machine went flat and instead of beeps there was a long single note...

..having seen lots of episodes of Casualty the St Smoothies staff knew this was time grab the paddle thingies and yell things like "charge" "stand-back" and "he's into VF"

Despite best efforts Innocent was apparently all out of juice and attempts to get him going again were futile.

Ah, shame.

The St Smoothies team saw some counsellors and ate a few doughnuts to get over their despair and got back to work.

But what of our plucky hero??

Despair hung over the fridge, it felt empty and lifeless…

Egg remarked to Lettuce how everything now seemed to be in black & white now that their colourful friend was no longer

..but then Innocent woke up, and finding himself in the shower, realised that it had all been a dream!!!

What a quirky twist of fate, as Innocent’s all time hero was Bobby from Dallas.

Apart from the fact that he was being played by a different actor* Innocent was none the worse for wear after his terrifying dream

The End * Just like Lucy Robinson in Neighbours
