2017/18 Stewardship Report

Fiscal Year 2018 Financial Update from the Finance Council

Below is a summary of our finances through the close of Fiscal Year 2018, which ended on June 30, 2018. What a difference a year makes. Offertory income came in 4.66% above budget while Debt Reduction income trailed only 2.34% below budget. We ended the year with a net income of $92,508.65, which is attributable principally to a 4.68% increase in budgeted income, and significant cost management by the entire parish staff.

On the expense side of the ledger, our major expenses for the most part were in line with their budgets. At year end, we had $161,970.13 in our operating account, $200,970.13 in our growth fund account, and $532,618.53 deposited with the diocese for our hurricane deductible and our maintenance reserve.

Thank you for your generosity, support and making St. Luke your home. Please continue your financial support as a sign of our mutual responsibility to provide the resources needed for us to fulfill our parish mission. May God Bless you.

Now to Him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us, to Him

be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3. 20-21)

Message from the Pastor:

It is with great joy that I share with you how grateful and blessed I am for each one of you. The Spirit of God has

been working powerfully among us during this past year and I am most grateful for your generous response to His

love that produced some incredible fruits. You are truly beloved disciples of the Lord!

You hold in your hands our Second Annual Stewardship Report. Throughout this report, you will see why I am filled

with such a tremendous joy. We have chosen to respond to the Lord’s invitation to generosity and holiness, to seek

Him in the needs of others, and share with them the joy of the Gospel. The report goes beyond the standard financial

report and offers you a full accounting of all of the good fruit that our parish produces through our own ministries

and through our cooperation with other endeavors in our larger community and beyond in the fiscal year July 1, 2017

- June 30, 2018. It is our intent to emphasize that good stewardship involves more than just an accounting of our

treasure but also the use of time and talent by various ministries and organizations in our parish.

In truth, every area and aspect of the stewardship of our parish exceeded our annual expectation. The manifold grace

that we receive through the Sacramental power of God made us to be most generous and committed disciples to live

out the demands of the Good News of Christ. Sharing our time in daily prayer; offering our many and varied talents

in ministries in service and outreach; offering the fruits of our treasures which first came from the Almighty and are

now returned with increase from our labors. I laud your generosity and I am humbled by your trust: that the Lord will

repay each one in accord with God’s great compassion and love.

It is my prayer that as you reflect upon the annual report, you, too, will see that we are indeed a blessed parish

community! It becomes so evident that in every dimension of parish life, the Catholic faith that we treasure is

generously handed on and proclaimed. Please join with me in offering thanks to one another, and raising praise to

God who has invited us to be His good stewards.

Together with Fr Xaviour, we thank you for all that you do in the name of Jesus Christ. In the power of the Holy

Spirit lets continue to make our faith community ever stronger and invite many others to join us in this blessed and

joyful endeavors of building the Kingdom of God. To Him be the glory and honor, forever and ever. Amen!

With prayers,

Fr Andy

Catholic Youth Ministry What an amazing year for St. Luke Youth Group (CYM). This year we welcomed many new faces to our group and some of our veterans

have graduated and are going off to college (including one Valedictorian). This year we prayed, laughed, played games, made

friends and overall had a great time at our weekly Wednesday night youth nights. Meetings revolved around the Cardinal virtues,

parables and many other topics that connect teens’ lives to our faith. We participated in several Rise Up events which included

Eucharistic Adoration, music, great speakers and food trucks! During Christmas time we caroled and gave out cards at

St. Vincent’s and the Canterfield Senior Community. We brought fifteen teens to the amazing Diocesan Youth

Conference , which was a 3 day retreat at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs. The teens also helped put on the Living Stations of the

Cross on Good Friday. In July, we attended the Steubenville Conference in Orlando with 44 teens. Steubenville conferences are

an amazing opportunity for teens to encounter God through the Eucharist, during Reconciliation, in the music and the words of the amazing speakers. This weekend always has a profound effect on

teenagers and the adults that help chaperone. If you are interested in being a part of CYM email the Youth Director, Steve Eiswert, at

The New Family Faith Formation Process:

Over 200 students completed religious education classes at St. Luke

Catholic Church in May. We are very excited to be transitioning to

the New Family Faith Formation Process for the upcoming school

year. We have developed the New Family Faith Formation Process

to meet the needs of both students and parents. The format of our

program is both unique and creative in that it unites the family in

both prayer and education, teaches the family about our Catholic

faith, fosters a deeper relationship with Christ and each other, and

promotes spiritual growth individually, and as a family.

The Family Faith Formation Process is an active process that will

allow the parents to experience community in the parish, find

support among other Catholic parents, and learn, experience, and

grow in their own faith along with their children in response to

God’s presence, grace, and love.

The New Family Faith Formation Process will consist of: online

religious education classes using My Catholic Faith Delivered,

in-class meetings with children every 8 weeks and parent sessions at

the same time, quarterly Family Faith Learning Sessions, Mass

attendance, church service activities, and participation in the

Sacraments. Registration is currently open for school year

2018/2019 and classes will formally begin in August.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION: The first year of

Biblical School covered the story of salvation

from Genesis to 2nd Maccabees. This included

the Fall of Adam and Eve, the Patriarchs, the

Exodus, the Judges of Israel, the Kings of

Israel, the fall of the northern and southern

kingdoms and exile, and their return to the

Promised Land. The second year will be

covering the life of Christ in the synoptic

Gospels, the early church in the Acts of the

Apostles, and all the letters of St. Paul.

The St. Luke Music Ministry has 42 active members ages 14 to 77. We love singing at Mass, in concerts, and in the community. This year we have started a special outreach choir “Ron’s Choir” in memory of one of our members who passed away in April. We visit, pray with, and sing for the terminally ill, homebound, and the families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Jacksonville. The St. Luke Music Ministry is a family within the larger St. Luke family and we would love for you to be a part of this growing family! We welcome all who love to sing to join us in the choir as we joyfully serve the parish and community.

St. Luke Child Care Center’s mission is to provide quality child care and education for all children at an affordable rate. Currently, we serve 134 families at St. Luke Child Care. One aspect of our center that separates us from other child care centers is each one of our teachers possesses a servant’s heart. Our teachers are dedicated to helping each child grow socially, academically and spiritually in a safe environment that is rooted in the Catholic faith.

This year, we are proud to share that the success of our center has allowed us to award the families of Clay County just over $70,000 in scholarship money. It is a blessing to help families, who might not otherwise have the means, to enroll their children in a center that provides the quality care and education that St. Luke provides.

We are excited to begin a new school year and will continue to make it our mission to care for, nurture, educate, and model Christ’s love to each child who enters our doors!

After 25 years in the making, Annunciation Catholic School

held a groundbreaking ceremony for our new gymnasium!

Through the combined hard work of Fr. Andy, Fr. Mike,

and Fr. Ignatius, our pastors have worked with the building

officials from the Diocese and with our own Annunciation

gym committee to make this gymnasium a reality. And so,

on June 23, our community gathered to witness Bishop

Estévez bless and break ground on the site where

construction will begin for the new building. It was truly a

joy-filled event, with staff, students, parents, alumni,

retired pastors from all three of our supporting parishes,

and representatives from the architectural and construction

firms on hand to join in the celebration. The gymnasium is

expected to be completed in time for use in the coming

year, and all those many individuals who have contributed

to fundraising and worked to make this gym happen will

soon see it rise on the Annunciation campus. Annunciation

wishes to thank the parishioners of St. Luke for their

prayers and support for the school, and all are invited to

keep abreast of the coming year’s exciting news and events

by visiting the Annunciation website:
