• Spain has several regions, however the largest region is in the middle of the country. This area is dry, high or flat area called a MESETA.

• A meseta is a synonym for a plateau.

• You will find sheep and cattle on the meseta.

• To the NORTH you will find the PYRENEES which separate Spain from other European countries like France.

• What is a peninsula?

• The peninsula that Spain shares with Portugal is called the Iberian Peninsula. It is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

• Africa is only 9 miles away from the southern most point of Spain!

Coastal Regions• Spain’s coasts are narrow lowlands squeezed

between mountain ranges and water.

• Dry sunny summers bring tourists to the beaches and resorts.

• As a tourist you will see many cities and people along the coasts. Why?
