TRANSCRIPT

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to

do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave

room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will

heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

‘It is more blessed to give

than to receive.’

16 “So the last will be first,

and the first will be last.”

“Truth standing on her head

to attract attention”

9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich;

having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich;

having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,

but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has

not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was

pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a

stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a

miraculous sign from you.”

39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will

be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three

nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of

the earth.

14 After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, “Surely this is the

Prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him

king by force, withdrew again to

a mountain by himself.

36 When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed

and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

As long as you believe you can define and solve your deepest problems, the message of the Cross

will be either irrelevant or offensive.

24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ [is] the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of

God is stronger than man’s strength.

30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is,

our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as

we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we

were saved.
