Th is edition of Festember has probably been the biggest in the past four years. Th e GJCC, an LED backdrop, a host of amazing pro-shows, 50 events and of course, a very enjoyable ambience - every eff ort was taken to make Festember much better than the previous editions. Given the spectacular show that we witnessed, it wasn’t surprising to know that the core team began work as early as April. Th ey met regularly and planned out each and every aspect of how the four days are going to be, months before the actual fest. I think Pragyan trumps this by beginning work even before Festember. We can readily imagine the scale in which it is going to be conducted. Th ere are two things that one could see in a fest with this big a magnitude. Firstly, we kvetch about how other colleges have facilities that we don’t and how that severely aff ects our progress. Even though that might be partly true, I’ve noticed that several colleges do not provide the kind of freedom and independence to students like how they do here in our college. In most of these colleges, the admin plans the cultural fest right from fi xing the dates to its execution albeit with a little help from students. Our college gives us that responsibility and the admin quietly keeps track of us from a distance. Th ink of a situation where we do not get to decide the events or a theme for the fest. (Hawaii would be a distant dream. Trichy/Th uvakudi would have been more plausible.) Hence, even though we get used to the fact that it is just another fest that we conduct, it is a great deal to most others. Th is is a fact that we need to be proud of. Secondly, even aft er months of planning, one simply can’t expect the kind of problems that happened during the fest. It was Festember and “Mother” nature simply had to attend it. How could she be locked up when proshows are going on? I mean, it just had to rain! Th e way people tackled all these problems, came up with other alternatives and made sure that everything goes smoothly is commendable indeed. And the walkie-talkies added a professional touch to the event although it was a tad bit funny sometimes listening to people say,”I’m right behind you. Over.” All in all, kudos to everyone who played a part in making the fest a success. A lot of things learnt and lot more to remember.

Winno ‘Poo’lene is the don of an elite crime family in Drugdown Forest. During a wedding, his son, Piglet Poolene, introduces the family to his girlfriend, Kay ‘Kanga’ Adams. Rabbit Hagen is Winno’s trusted concierge, who Winno sends to carry out various tasks on his behalf, including intimidating an arrogant movie director to secure his godson Canary a role in a movie. Tiger Sollozo, a well-known drug dealer in the forest, supported by the Woozles, approaches Winno to invest in his emerging drug trade, with the new concept of selling drugs infused in pots of honey. Winno, who is an avid lover of Honey (or ‘Hunny’ as he fondly calls it), disapproves of the idea and immediately asks Tiger to leave. Additionally, he also asks his trusted enforcer, Christopher Brasi, to spy on the drug dealers. What follows is a series of threats and even an assassination attempt on Winno by putting poison in his honey, which puts him in the forest hospital. Winno’s eldest son, Eeyore Poolene, takes charge. Tiger kidnaps Rabbit by luring him with luscious carrots in order to put pressure on Eeeyore to except his deal. Being the bad-ass (pun intended) Eeyore is, he has the Woozle’s son killed. Piglet, instigated by another assassination attempt on his father, murders Tiger and his bodyguard using an IEC (Improvised Explosive Catapult). e animal families erupt in open warfare despite the eorts of the forest rangers. Eeeyore is killed by his brother-in-law’s assassins when he threatens him for abusing his sister. Piglet marries while hiding in the giant Banyan tree of the forest. However, his world is shattered when his wife is killed by a snare trap intended for him. Winno, destroyed by the deaths in his family, decides to end the forest feud by promising to stop opposing the drug business. Piglet returns home and marries Kanga the next year. Surrounded by the collapse of the family, Piglet takes over and promises Kay that he will make the business legitimate. He asks Rabbit to relinquish his post, as his obsession with carrots and his age was not suited for the business. While playing catch with his grandson, Winno collapses and dies. Piglet begins to murder other New York don members using his vast network of animal assassins. Kanga slowly watches, as her husband turns into the monster he really is.
