Yankton, was arrested Thursday formisrepresentation to obtained con-trolled substance.

• Tylor Sealey, 19, Yankton, wasarrested Thursday for possession ofmarijuana (less than 2 ounces).

INCIDENTS• Police received a report of a

possible dog theft along E. Highway50. The incident was reported at7:36 p.m. Thursday.

• Some city property near the

intersection of Eighth and Broadwaywas reported vandalized. The inci-dent was reported at 10:14 a.m.Friday. Some graffiti was discoveredunder the bridge.

• Police received a report at 1:30p.m. Friday of a possible residentialburglary in the 1200 block of E.Highway 50. No other informationwas available at press time.

• A gas drive-off from a Yanktonconvenience store earlier this weekwas reported to the police at 2:52p.m. Friday.

Wheat for July delivery jumped9.75 cents to $5.025 a bushel, whileJuly corn inched up 0.25 cent to$3.74 a bushel and oats for Julydelivery fell 2 cents to $2.20 abushel. July soybeans added 2cents to $9.95 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef futures tradedmixed and pork futures advanced onthe Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle rose 0.35 cent to94.65 cents a pound; May feedercattle slipped 0.13 cent to $1.1267 apound; June lean hogs gained 0.08cent to 86.15 cents a pound; andMay pork bellies climbed 2 cents to97.55 cents a pound.

Event To Feature GOP U.S. House Candidates From P&D Staff Reports

VERMILLION — Three Republican candidates for U.S. Househave been invited to appear Monday at a forum in Vermillion.

The forum begins at 7 p.m. at the W.H. Over Museum on theUniversity of South Dakota campus, according to Clay CountyRepublican chairwoman Donna Schafer. The public is invited toattend the event.

Chris Nelson of Pierre, Kristi Noem of Castlewood and Dr. BlakeCurd of Sioux Falls have been extended invitations to the event,Schafer said.

Nelson and Noem have indicated they will attend, while organ-izers are awaiting final confirmation from Curd, Schafer said.

Nelson currently serves as the South Dakota Secretary of State,while Noem and Curd serve in the South Dakota Legislature.

Plans call for a panel format, opening with questions presentedto the candidates, Schafer said. The floor will then be opened upfor audience questions, she said.

A $7 admission will be charged for the event, which includesdessert and benefits the Clay County Republicans, Schafer said.

Herseth Sandlin To Host Flood MeetingFrom P&D Staff Reports

CENTERVILLE — U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin will holda community meeting Monday in Centerville to discuss floodingconcerns.

The public is invited to attend the meeting at 10:30 a.m. in theAmerican Legion Hall, located at 921 Main Street.

The meeting will address ongoing relief efforts related to thisyear’s flooding of the Vermillion River and its tributaries, as wellas to plan for future flood mitigation, according to a pressrelease.

The meeting features Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.), state and localofficials, emergency response personnel and the Army Corps ofEngineers. In addition, the public will have an opportunity toshare its concerns and ideas.

Recently, Rep. Herseth Sandlin hosted a series of seven com-munity meetings to discuss flooding in communities acrossnortheastern South Dakota.

Last fall, Herseth Sandlin hosted U.S. Agriculture SecretaryTom Vilsack to show him the flood damage in northeastern SouthDakota. They also discussed the impact of this flooding on agri-cultural producers and rural communities at a Rural IssuesForum near Bath.

Herseth Sandlin also recently met with Colonel Robert Ruch,the Commander and District Engineer of the Omaha District ofthe Army Corps of Engineers, to discuss the current situation inSouth Dakota and assistance that the Corps can provide.

Herseth Sandlin has also been in communication with CraigFugate, administrator of the Federal Emergency ManagementAgency (FEMA) and Kristi Turman, the director of South DakotaOffice of Emergency Management.

Tailwaters Boat Ramp To Be RehabilitatedThe boat ramp at Nebraska Tailwaters Recreation Area will be

undergoing rehabilitation starting Tuesday, April 20. The ramp willbe closed for approximately one month for the construction to becompleted. The closest ramp, which is on the Training Dike, willbe open for use during this time.

The Young at Heart willmeet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April20. That same day at 5:30 p.m.,Yankton County residents willmeet. On Wednesday, April 21,Baby Boomers will meet at5:30 p.m., and on Thursday,April 22, parents with middleschool and high school stu-dents will meet at 5:30 p.m. Allof these meetings are open tothe public.

The online survey is nowavailable and everyone isencouraged to complete it,even if you attend a face-to-face focus group. The ques-tions are a bit different witheasy, multiple-choice answers.It will take you less than tenminutes to complete theonline survey. All focus groups are beingfacilitated by Planning andDevelopment District III. Atthe conclusion of the meetingsand the online survey, DistrictIII will compile all of the infor-mation and present it to theBuilding Task Force.
