Zoo History San Antonio's first zoo

was made up of a collection of animals assembled in San Pedro Park in the 1800s

In 1914, Colonel George W. Brackenridge, founder of the Express news placed more animals in what is now Brackenridge Park.

The San Antonio zoo promotes the well being of animals around San Antonio and educates people of all ages about different kinds of wild life and how we can preserve it.
