• Preferences – Trees, trees, trees, wide planting strips, houses facing the street, Myers Park and Dilworth are done right, sidewalks on both sides of street, narrow streets & wider streets, vertical curb, tree-lined streets are pretty

• Dislikes – barren cookie-cutter neighborhoods, extremely wide streets, lack of trees, tree-less neighborhoods are cold and uninviting, roll-over curb, not enough on-street parking

A planting strip is the area between the roadway and the sidewalk. Planting strips provide a buffer between moving traffic and pedestrians on the sidewalk. If wide enough, planting strips can allow for landscaping and large maturing trees.

trees, BIG trees, wide enough to separate pedestrians from roadways, wider is better, well-maintained, wide planting strips are beautiful, trees are great, even modest neighborhoods look good with trees

Similar to the road system, a connected residential sidewalk system enables residents to travel from one place to another safely. Sidewalks accommodate a wide range of users, from

children to seniors, and a wide range of activities (baby strollers, children on bicycles, and wheelchair users). Sidewalks provide a

place for transportation access, recreational opportunities, and community interaction.

• Preferences – Wide, wide, wide, Wider sidewalks are better, wide enough for 2 people to walk side by side, need more sidewalks, shaded sidewalks, sidewalks are an asset, wider than 4’, set sidewalks back from the road

• Dislikes – Maintain sidewalks better, new subdivision sidewalks are too skinny, sidewalks on only one side of street
