You might have noticed that Rose Cottage has been looking
very festive recently...
On Wednesday we celebrated HFC’s 112th birthday.
The entire school got together to celebrate with a beautiful
mass. We were honoured to have Bishop Duncan at HFC to
celebrate mass with us. Dr Potterton cut the school’s
birthday cake, we all sang happy birthday and after the mass
each child received a party pack as a birthday treat.
The spirit and love of our small family has definitely been
very evident this week!
GRADE 2 ROAD SAFETY PROJECT
The Grade 2s have been learning
about road safety this week.
They now know all about road
signs and where it is safe to cross
the road.
GRADE 6 BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
This week it was the turn of the Grade 6 team to head to the Parkview Library
to compete in the area round of the competition.
(Left to right) Rea Itholeng, Jaden Hendrickes, Kagiso Akika, Jada Moyo, Bontle
Maboe and Mbali Molepo battled it out against 3 other schools.
The competition was tough as each team was required to read 15 books
between them.
The girls held their own and represented our school with pride.
MISSING QUALITY KID BADGES
We are still missing lots of
Quality Kid badges.
It is incredibly important that
your child returns the Quality Kid
badge to their teacher the
Thursday after they receive it.
The children with outstanding
badges have received an orange
slip in their diary. Either the
badge needs to be returned or a
R100 replacement fee paid.
QUALITY KID – EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT
The award this week goes to those children who put extraordinary effort
into their work – no matter how easy or difficult they find it.

CONDOLENCES
Our thoughts and prayers are with
Amu Mhlanga in Grade 6 and his
family this week. His father passed
away after being involved in a car
crash last weekend.
The funeral service will take place
this weekend in Nelspruit.
The whole HFC family and Grade
6s in particular are thinking of
their friend at this difficult time.
Farewell to the WITS Education
Student teachers Mr Dirks, Miss
Rathloko and Miss Madiba who
have been with us for the past 6
weeks.
Thank you to the teachers for your
guidance and mentorship in making
this a really valuable learning curve
for them. They had a great
experience.

KFC MINI CRICKET MATCH
The boys and girls in our Mini
Cricket team enjoyed their
match on Saturday even
though the event was not well
planned. Thanks to the parents
and guardians who made a
special effort to get the
children to school bright and
early!
Thank you to Coach Jarrod and
Ms Mash for accompanying
them.
The Grade 3s had a great
time showing their ‘things
from long ago’ projects to
the rest of the Foundation
Phase.
