Proverbs 14:24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

We studied recently about the true riches, and true riches are the crown of the wise.

Certainly riches include having all our needs met – adequate food, shelter, clothing, transportation

But it also includes a good church, good friends, a close walk with the Lord, respect, and honor.

4

24b but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Foolish behavior brings ever more foolishness into one’s life.

One lie requires more lies to back it up.

Stealing leads to sneaking, lies and cover-ups.Adultery requires sneaking, lying, deceiving.

The Way of Wisdom is the Way of God.

The Bible. Every Word

25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Matthew 26 59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put Him to death;

See what harm a liar can do.

6

Don’t lie about even small things.

It’s sin.In Proverbs 6 God lists seven things that He hates,

and lying made the list twice.

Again and again in Scripture we are admonished to be honest – with God, with other men, and with

ourselves.

7

26-27 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Fear of the Lord is manifested in obedience.

When our confidence is in the Lord, we live our lives His Way,

And we are protected from the ravages of sin.

8

Sin produces disease, poverty, imprisonment, and death in the

lives of those who love it.

Romans 6 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

From sin unto

righteousness through

Jesus.

28 In the multitude of people is the king's honor: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Let all that wish well to the Kingdom of Christ, do what they can, that many may be added to His church.

Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

In this world, no man can be a leader if he has no followers.

10

29 He that is slow to wrath is of great under-standing: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Psalm 90 11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

People often resort to anger to hide their fear.

11

A man is afraid he is losing an argument, he gets angry and loud because he has no good argument.

A normal man is attacked;

afraid

30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

(NIV) A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

The condition of our mind and emotions strongly affects our health and well-being.

Very destructive mindset.

1 Timothy 6 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
