Thefutureisrenewableandefficient–newwebsiteonsustainableheatingandcoolingwasrecentlylaunched!

HalfofEurope'senergyconsumptionisusedforheatingorcooling.Currently,80millionheatingandcoolingsystemsareinefficient.REPLACE,thenewEU-project,ishelpingtochangethissituationwithservice-orientedboiler-replacementcampaignsin9countriesacrossEurope.AfirstglimpseintothisexcitingnewprojectisnowpossibleonREPLACE’sfreshlylaunchedwebsite.

Ifoldheating-boilerscauseconfusionandfrustrationtooneortheotherowner,thenewwebsitehttps://replace-project.eucanbeagoodplacetogoforeasy-to-understandinformation.Thewebsiteprovidespracticalinformationontheshifttowardssustainableheatingandcoolingsystems.Theproject’s,aswellasthewebsite’s,coverageiscomprehensiveandtargets10regionsfromWestern,CentraltoSouth-EasternEuropeandprovidesinformationin9languages:Bosnian,Bulgarian,Croatian,English,German,Macedonian,Serbian,Slovenian,andSpanish.

Thewebsitehasbeenespeciallydesignedtotargetallstakeholdersinvolvedinthesectorforheatingandcoolingsystems:consumersandconsumerorganisations,publicauthorities,intermediarieslikechimneysweepersorinstallers,aswellasinvestorsandbuildingowners.MoreinformationonthewaysthesestakeholdergroupscanprofitfromtheREPLACEprojectcanbefoundonthewebsite.Overthecourseoftheprojectduration,thewebsitewillmakeanumberofusefulmaterialsavailable,forexample:

• trainingmaterialforintermediarieswhointendtoimplementsustainablesystemsortechnicalhandbookswithplanningguidanceundfinancingoptions,

• easy-to-understandguidelinesforendconsumersexplainingtechnicalequipmentandeconomicaspects,• oranonlinecalculatorthatguidesalltargetgroupsthroughthereplacementofheatingovensandboilers

andhelpstoassessenergysavings,monetarysavingsaswellasbenefitssuchascomfortorgreenhousegasesavoided.

Visitorsofthewebsitecancheckiftheprojectisbeingimplementedintheirregionaswell,andcangetintouchwitharegionalcontactpersonformoredetailedinformation.Thewebsitewillalsopostupcomingevents,sothatinterestedindividualscangetafirst-handimpressionofsustainableheatingandcoolingsystems.

ThewebsiteispartoftheresearchandinnovationprojectREPLACE–andliketheprojectitself,ithasjustkickedoffandisnowinprogress.Theprojecthasonemaingoal,namelyitaimsatmotivatingandsupportingpeopleinninedifferentcountriestoreplacetheiroldsystemswithmoreenvironmentallyfriendlyalternatives.Simplerenovationmeasuresthatreduceoverallenergyconsumptionarealsopartoftheprogramme.Afterfiveyearsofcampaignimplementation,144,000tonnesofgreenhousegasshallbesavedeachyear.TheAustrianEnergyAgencymanagestheprogramme,whichisfinancedbytheEUwithintheframeworkoftheHorizon2020programme.Atotalof12projectpartnersinninecountrieswilljoinforcesandmakeheatingandcoolinginEuropecleanerandmoreefficient.ThecountrieswhereREPLACEisinactionareAustria,BosniaandHerzegovina,Bulgaria,Croatia,Germany,NorthMacedonia,Serbia,Slovenia,andSpain.
