Editor’s discussion of 802.11 MDR• In May, we discussed holding draft reviews in
preparation for requesting approval from the Sponsor• 11-11/615r0 WG 11 MEC Process, 11-09/1034r1 802.11 Style Guide, 11-09/533r1
ARC Recommendation re MIB Attribute Types & Usage, and P802.11REVmb Draft 8.0 Annex C.2 Guidelines for 802.11 MIB authors and editors
• In July, after having performed the review of 11ae, 11aa and 11ad drafts, and refined the review and reporting process,
– See 11-11/872 TGaa, 11-11/873 TGae and 11-11/874 TGad MEC Reports
• The editors strawpolled of the draft review process– July 18 PM2 Editor’s meeting reviewed 11-11/615r3 Procedure, and a strawpoll
approved the procedures therein 7-0-0. Some editorial errors were noted and resolved in 11-11/615r4 WG802.11 MEC Procedures.
– We expect the process to be renamed the WG802.11 Mandatory Draft Review Process.

JTC1 ad hoc focused on reporting of recent SC6 meeting
• Progress in San Francisco (July 2011)• Discussed proposed 8802 series withdrawal
– Consensus of .1, .3, .11 participants that “international” is important & 802 should send standards to ISO as long as ISO does not amend our standards
– 802.11 will not send 802.11-2007 as interim update because 802.11-2012 is very close to completion
• Received WAPI report– WAPI still at NP stage & not at WD stage– A CRM will be held with 802 delegation in August, with the output to be
considered by SC6 NBs in Feb 2012– Not clear on process for WAPI project approval

Motion to liaise 802.11ac to SC6
• Motion– The IEEE 802.11 WG approves the following text be liaised to
SC6 by the 802.11 WG Chair• The IEEE 802.11 WG has previously committed to liaise Sponsor
Ballot draft standards to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6 to allow SC6 National Bodies an early opportunity to review standards that may be submitted to SC6 for ratification under the PSDO agreement.
• However, the IEEE 802.11 WG understands that a Letter Ballot draft of IEEE 802.11ac may be of interest to the National Body members of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6, particularly as they consider the proposal from the China National Body for a New Project to develop a standard for an alternate PHY and MAC addressing similar market requirements, similar techniques and the same targeted spectrum.

PAP02- Phase 2-SDO Proposal –r1Intro•Thanks to Ron Cunningham for his diligent preparation of requirements for completion of Phase 2.•We propose that it is time for the wireless SDO’s to take a more active role in constructing the analyticProposal/Request•We request authorization from PAP2 members to form an “SDO subcommittee” committed to completing delivery of an operational analysis framework , and related descriptive text, in time for presentation to the Dec 05, 2011 SGIP board meeting.Goals•Example of deliverables include: Definition of propagation model, ability to calculate quantity of wireless equipment required to cover a given demographic/topographic area and description of statistical confidence in reported numbersUtility/GRID Input Requirements•Information regarding actor quantities by type, relative locations, topography, data traffic loadsSynchronization•“SDO subcommittee” will report progress to during currently scheduled biweekly PAP2 callsLogistics •“SDO subcommittee” will convene a series of teleconferences scheduled to optimize SDO participation but open to all PAP2. SDO subcommittee will self organize , assign/delegate work. develop a milestone based project schedule. Webinar facilities will be available.Membership•“SDO subcommittee” is a volunteer group initially underwritten by ATIS, IEEE, TIA, and WiMAX. Additional wireless SDO participants will be recruited
