PETUSEFUL SPEAKING EXPRESSIONS

Teacher: María Reina.

PART 1 (2-3 MINUTES) INTERVIEW

The examiner will ask you easy questions to know more about you.

What’s your name? Can you spell your name/surname? Where do you live? Do you work or study? Do you like studying English? What do you do in your free time? Where are you from? Do you have any hobbies? What do you hope to do in the next few years?

PART 1

Avoid “yes/no” questions. Expand your answer a bit.

Short and direct answers about the question the examiner asked you.

Do not talk about other thing.

PART 2 (3 MIN) COLLABORATIVE TASK

The examiner will describe you and your partner a situation. You will have some pictures to help you (you could add your own ideas too).

You must come to a decision with your partner about what would be the best solution for the situation.

Make and respond to situations, discuss alteratives, express your opinion, netiate agreement or disagreement.

PART 3 (ABOUT 3 MIN) INDIVIDUAL LONG TERM

The examiner will give you a coloured photograph and you have to talk about it.

Describe the setting, people, activities, feelings in the photograph.

Each candidate will have a different photo of everyday situations.

Describe activities and people as fully as possible. (Imagine you describe it to someone who can’t see: objects, weather, clothes, time of the day…).

Paraphrase those objects you do not know the name.

PART 4 (ABOUT 3 MIN) DISCUSSION

The examiner will ask you and your partner to discuss about something based on part 3.

In this part candidates speak to each other. The topic is a link between part 3 and your

preferences, experiences, likes and dislikes, etc.

Independent opinion and turn-taking. Involve your partner. Mention your partner’s opinion, agree or disagree with him/her.
