Overview
Pacific Links was founded in 2009 and embarked on a busy development period identifying for ownership golf clubs located in Hawaii, Las Vegas, So. California, and West Virginia. At its inaugural press conference in September of 2012 held in conjunction with the first of three fully sponsored Pacific Links Hawaii Championships, a PGA Tour Champions Event, Pacific Links International
announced to the international golf community in its business initiatives and goals in the private golf and country club industry. Simply put, Pacific Links provides golfers with a premium golf experience through an innovative international membership structure focused on the East Asian golfer. Pacific Links offers them access to the finest collection of high quality golf clubs in the world. Since 2012, the Pacific Links Network of Affiliated and Reciprocal clubs now stands at over 150 properties located in 25+ countries around the world, and its membership roster in Asia is now in excess of 6,000.
The Pacific Links International business model is centered on creating a worldwide reciprocal network of clubs that help us develop and grow our membership base in East Asia. In doing so, we provide an opportunity for participating clubs to realize new inbound revenue from our Network membership as well as providing a very robust outbound benefit to their members.
Access to these exceptional properties is being made available through a unique reciprocal membership product that assists each individual participating club differentiate itself in its local market. PLI believes that clubs in the 21st century will have to adapt to changing lifestyle habits of their current and future members in order to survive over the long run. Clubs will need new membership products that protect the exclusivity and traditions of their club, yet bring new diversity and member opportunity that recognizes these lifestyle changes.
Pacific Links is especially focused on developing a membership product that will bring exceptional destination golf experiences to individuals living in China. PLI has created and launched a unique membership offering which will provide access to this network of world-‐class clubs. Pacific Links has 12 membership sales offices open and operating in Beijing, Shanghai, and throughout China promoting our network of clubs around the world.
Pacific Links is looking to partner with a very select number of clubs in International gateway cities in Asia, North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand to join with Pacific Links in creating a worldwide network of golf experiences that will add value to all the clubs participating. PLI has created a unique China membership offering which will provide access for its Chinese members to this network of world-‐class clubs. We have enrolled nearly 5,000
members since our launch in 2013. The aggregated Affiliate and Reciprocal members in the network now total nearly 50,000 and we have participating clubs in 22 countries.
There are two types of relationships that a participating club can choose. There are no up-‐front fees to participate and since this a home club membership benefit, Pacific Links does not charge commissions typical of the travel agent business. There are two programs to choose from:
Affiliate Club -‐ Participating Affiliate Clubs and their members will receive cart-‐fee only golf access at all of the PACIFIC LINKS Clubs and other Affiliate Clubs in the PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network. In addition, Affiliate Club members receive discounted golf access at other Reciprocal Access Clubs (certain geographic restrictions apply). Each Affiliate Club accepts controlled and limited inbound play on a cart-‐fee only golf access basis for PACIFIC LINKS and Affiliate Club members only and on a discounted green fee basis (typically 50%) for Reciprocal Access Club members. Participating Clubs will receive the inbound ancillary “club and resort spending” generated from guest fees, F&B, merchandise and lodging where applicable by the visiting members, which is expected to be meaningful on an annualized basis.
Reciprocal Access Club -‐ Participating Reciprocal Access Clubs and their members will receive discounted golf access at all of the PACIFIC LINKS Clubs, Affiliate Clubs, and other Reciprocal Access Clubs in the PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network (certain geographic restrictions apply). Each Reciprocal Access Club accepts controlled and limited inbound play on a discounted green fee basis (typically 50%) for all members. Participating Clubs will receive the inbound ancillary “club and resort spending” generated from guest fees, F&B, merchandise and lodging where applicable by the visiting members, which is expected to be meaningful on an annualized basis.
The entire Pacific Links Golf Network portfolio includes notable high quality golf courses with exceptional design and true playing memorability with a quality of operations, course conditioning and service of the highest standard. Following PLI’s corporate commitment to providing a complete service experience, each participating club will be asked to make a similar commitment to providing a welcoming environment to visiting members.
On occasion, special attention will be required for the visiting Pacific Links Chinese members who may not be as familiar or at ease with international golf travel. Providing this special service experience at the club will be a critical component and a hallmark of this partnership program between PLI and each Affiliate and Reciprocal Access Club. It is expected that PLI will offer these visiting affiliate members optional concierge service packages on a fee basis through a local third party ground service provider and work to coordinate and deliver a seamless experience for the visiting Chinese members. There will be no cost to the host club, just a management commitment to help coordinate this level of service as needed.
Since its inception in 2009, PLI has been successfully building a network of properties in locations that are complementary to the tourism visits of our prospective Asian members. PLI will continue to expand through Affiliate agreements in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and key locations in Europe.
Affiliate and Reciprocal Access Clubs have been enrolled in 22 countries including Australia, Canada, USA, Indonesia (Bali, Jakarta & Surabaya), Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand (Bangkok & Phuket), Cambodia, Vietnam (HCM City, Danang, Nha Trang, Ho Tram), New Zealand, Korea (Seoul, Jeju Island), England, Spain, Portugal & France, with evaluations underway in in other world gateway and resort cities. The PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network Program With over 150 exceptional clubs now enrolled, PACIFIC LINKS will be a unique collection of golf experiences that will add tangible financial and membership value to all clubs participating in the PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network, while providing exceptional opportunity for their Members. Please refer to the attached roster of clubs.
Pacific Links International will administer benefits, concierge service and the marketing and management activities of the PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network. The individual PACIFIC LINKS Affiliate and Reciprocal Access Clubs will be responsible for all items of service delivery at their club or resort.
Summary of Benefits • Members will be accorded “member-‐like” privileges during their visit to a PACIFIC LINKS
Network Club. Most often, they will bring guests who will be subject to “member-‐rate” guest fee tariffs, and all players will use the restaurants, golf shops, spa facilities, and lodging in the case of resort properties, providing a good ancillary source of revenue to the visiting club.
• In the case of clubs and resorts located in real estate developments, these visitors will represent a strong demographic and psychographic profile providing excellent exposure to the real estate products on offer.
• Participating PACIFIC LINKS Network Clubs will be able to offer this “value added” benefit to the privileges of membership at their club thus increasing the value and desirability of their home club membership.
Impact While each participating PACIFIC LINKS Network Club will have different ancillary amenities and individual pricing schemes, we can create a hypothetical example of the financial impact to the Club based on “Affiliate Club” status and using reasonable assumptions taken from historical spending patterns and the traveling behavior of the inbound players.
Highlights of Golf Network Program for Participating Clubs
A. Members in good standing at their Home Club will be afforded Golf Network privileges under Affiliate Club or Reciprocal Access Club status. The intent of the PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network program is to allow Members in groups of 4-‐8 players to participate in benefits while traveling away from home to key vacation and holiday destinations. Participating Affiliate Clubs will be enrolled on a five-‐year renewable term basis.
B. PACIFIC LINKS has developed at its expense a dedicated website page for the club to be located at: www.pacificlinks.com and www.plgolf.cn. The club will provide PACIFIC LINKS with stock photo assets and the club’s logos for this purpose. PACIFIC LINKS will add other links to the dedicated website pages to facilitate Hotel/Lodge reservations at the properties, if applicable, and for linking to other club media assets as they are available (i.e. YouTube, etc.)
C. Participating PACIFIC LINKS Golf Network Clubs will welcome inbound Members and provide each visitor with an exceptional service experience. Home Club Members will be afforded this same level of service at the other exceptional properties participating in the program.
