Nucleus

Combination

of your DNA

Structure that

houses 2

chromosomes

You get 23

chromosomes

from both your

mom and dad.

Double- layered

membrane that

envelopes the nucleus

.

Cell Membrane

Separate the interior

cells from the

outside environment

Molecules

composed of amino

acids joined

together by peptide

bonds

Cell Wall The cell wall

maintains the

integrity of the

cell

Cytoplasm

The

cytoplasm

maintains the

shape of the

cell

It also anchors

organelles, and

controls movement

internal movement

of structures

Nuclear EnveolpeThe Nuclear Envelope

allows the RNA and

other chemicals to

pass, but the DNA not

to pass.

Chromosomes

Chromosomes are

the carriers of

genetic information.

This information is

unique to every

individual and

controls the cell.

RibosomesProteins syntheses occurs in

Ribosomes

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Endoplasmic Reticulum assist

protein synthesis and transport.

There are 2 types of ER Rough

ER and Smooth ER

Smooth ER

assist in

transport

Golgi ApparatusThe Golgi Apparatus

modifies, sorts, and

packages proteins from

the Endoplamic

Reticilum

Mitochondria

Mitochondria are sites of

energy release and ATP

formation. They are known

as the “

Powerhouse of the Cell”

Chloroplast

Chloroplast are

sites of

photosynthesis in

eukaryotes.

Vesicle Vesicles transport

materials both within the

cell and to the outside of

the cell.

Vacuole

Vacuoles are used as

storage areas within the

cell.

Lysosome

Lysosomes contain hydrolitic

enzymes and are responsible

for the extracellular

breakdown of materials.

Cytoskeleton

The cytoskeleton maintains

cell shape and allows

movement of the cell and its

organelles.

Centriole

Centrioles act as

a basal body for

cilia and flagella.
