PTA
The Fall Masquerade was a huge success! Thank you to PTA for coordinating and expanding this HCE tradition. A special thank you to our many volunteers who came to run the games, serve food, and assist with all the fun! Our After School Programs partners also volunteered as face painters, making our event even more colorful! Many local high school students were also able to earn community service hours for their hard work and dedication, especially with set up and clean up! We are so thrilled to provide a family fun venture where our Manatees can create lifelong memories! Thank you for coming out and supporting our school! We can't wait till next year!
Talk to Your Child About READING
Reading is one of the most important skills everyone needs to master to succeed in school, a job, and day-to-day life. These tips will help your child become a better reader. • Help your child find books, magazines, or other materials about
topics that interest him/her. • Encourage your child to spend at least a half hour a day reading
at home. • Talk with your child about school each day and ask about what
he/she is reading. • Ask who, what, where, when, how, and why questions to help
your child identify details in a text. • Read a story together and then ask your child to tell you in his/her
own words what it is about. • Ask your child to read a story aloud to you using different voices
for each character. • Challenge your child to find, use, and learn to spell one new word
a week. • Read some nonfiction together. Then ask your child to tell you
the main point of the piece and how the author supports it with facts and details.
