New Self Service
Check-in Concept Proof Of Concept
Version 8
2
Why A New Concept ? As passenger numbers increase year on year, airports and
carriers are under growing pressure to provide quick and
easy check-in for passengers. With limited check-in
counters, carriers and airports alike must investigate new
avenues to make the passenger experience as trouble free
as possible, while keeping costs to a minimum.
The new self service check-in concept has be designed
from the ground up to solve the issues faced by airports
and carriers using common use self service. It provides a
simpler way for carriers to implement
self-service facilities, adopting a modern approach that
allows for greater flexibility for carriers and greatly
reduced costs. This concept encompasses both hardware
and software in a single configurable package that can
give carriers a tailor made solution for their specific
requirements and needs.
As an open system, standardised across multiple
platforms allowing carriers to pick and choose the best
solution for their needs. ICTS innovative SmartCheck
application does not use proprietary or private interfaces
to provide access to the platform but rather open API’s
that are available to all. To maximise the flexibility of the
platform, carriers can deploy their self service applications
seamlessly in the form of Web link on the kiosks while
interfacing with the peripherals based on AEA
specification. .
The kiosk offers full mobility, with delegated internet
access and can operate on battery power for 12 hours of
operation. .
Deployment Options - Innovative SmartCheck Application - Existing Airline Self-Service Application

Large touchscreen display offering crystal clear, display and responsive
interaction.
Features
High performance PC equipped with multi-core processor that can
handle the heaviest of workloads.
Highest quality peripherals, such as boarding pass and bag tag printers,
from leading manufacturers.
Robust and durable chassis, built to withstand the toughest of
environments.
Designed for mobility, the kiosk can be moved with ease allowing
passengers to check-in at any location
Long lasting battery life with up to 12 hours of continuous usage and a
fast recharge rate.
Modular build allows for different peripherals to be fitted depending on
the specific needs of an airline.
Fast passenger processing times with check-in taking on average less than
a minute.
Can be integrated with any DCS or reservations systems quickly and
easily using web-services or direct API integration.

Deployment Options
Benefits 3 touch fast passenger check-in process for passengers By streamlining the check-in process to 3 main steps, passengers can check-in quicker and easier than ever.
Fully automatic document check A crucial success factor in deploying self service applications is the ability to check passengers documents. SmartCheck includes a fully automated, fast and accurate document check as standard.
Self Service and Agent Assisted modes Supporting both passenger self service and agent assisted modes gives carriers a flexible tool to providing first class customer service.
Minimal airline IT effort required to deploy An airline need only provide access to their self service check-in web service from their DCS provider. No more integration work is required.
Option 1 - SmartCheck Application
Carriers who wish to deploy their own CUSS application need only provide the web link used to deploy their
application.
Option 2 - Existing Carrier Self Service Application
ICTS’s innovative SmartCheck simplifies the passenger check-in process by giving the passenger a clear, sim-
ple and easy to use interface that maximises the large touch screen of the podium.
The user interface is skinnable, able to meet the branding requirements of airlines.
Multiple languages are also supported as standard.

DCS Integration SmartCheck can be integrated into any departure control system (DCS). Included with SmartCheck is a cloud
based middleware which will interface with DCS and host systems. Carriers need only provide access to their
existing self service check-in web services.

The DCS must give access to data to perform the following list of functions.
Retrieve a list of flights for an airport / airline
combination
Retrieve a flight manifest (passenger list) for a
given flight
Retrieve a passenger booking via PNR and /
or passenger name
Perform a check-in
Issue a boarding pass
Retrieve a seat map for a given flight
Assign / change a seat for a passenger
Assign baggage to a passenger
Issue a bag tag
Update a passenger booking
