Notice of Effective Date for New Rules for
Tennessee Real Estate Commission
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are re-ceiving this notice because you have elected to receive no-tification by e-mail of certain changes or potential chang-es to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Real Estate Commission approved pro-posed rules at their regularly scheduled meeting conduct-ed on December 5, 2018. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on August 5, 2019, received a positive recommendation from the Joint Government Operations Committee on October 16, 2019, and will become ef-fective on November 3, 2019. These rules have been filed as Proposed Rules and will be promulgated without a hearing ninety (90) days from the filing date unless a petition is received by at least ten (10) persons who will be affected by the rule.
The proposed rules eliminate and reduce certain licens-ing fees. Specifically, the proposed rules reduce the original license fee from $100.00 to $90.00 and the renewal license fee from $80.00 to $75.00. In addition, the proposed rules eliminate fees for change of firm address, name change, duplicate licenses, commission manual, certified copy fees, printouts of licensee information, and printout of licensee information fees. Also, the ini-tial $10.00 fee that is deposited into the real estate com-mission education and recovery account is reduced to $1.00. Furthermore, the proposed rules revise the lan-guage for the handling of bad checks to comport with state law. Lastly, the proposed rules reduce all education-al course application fees by at least half.
A full copy of these rules can be viewed online at https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/rules_filings/08-03-19.pdf

The National Association of REALTORS® created the Commitment to Excel-
lence program to encourage the professional development of REALTORS® by
utilizing a multifaceted approach aimed at offering opportunities for continu-
ing education and professional growth. A member’s Commitment to Excel-
lence is a continual practice, and a lifelong commitment to superior profes-

The Commitment to Excellence Program is defined by eleven competencies
which indicate a REALTOR®’s commitment to ethics, advocacy, technology,
data privacy, outstanding customer service, and much more. Each competen-
cy is tied to tasks and learning modules which are preceded by a Skills As-
