MindbogglingThe study of the brain

Neuroscience

The study of the brain and the nervous system.

Visual Imagery (Visual cortex)

Close your eyes and visualize a place you’d like to be. Maybe it’s riding a bike or hanging out with your friends outside. Create an image of that place and hold it in your mind for a minute.

What do you see?

Auditory Cortex

Close your eyes and listen to the sounds in the room – really listen.

What do you hear? How many sounds can you differentiate?

Visual and Auditory Cortex

Cognitive – Higher order thinking

Starting at 100, count backwards by 7.

Hippocampus – deep within brain (memory and learning)

Recall an event, try to remember as many details as you can from it. What emotions were you feeling?

Hippocampus

4 parts of brain

Tap Your Fingers

Prefrontal Cortex – brain makes conscious decision to do the task.

Premotor Cortex – Where you formulate instructions to do the task.

Primary Motor Cortex – A “relay station” that sends those instructions on to the arm and hand muscles that move the fingers.

Cerebellum – Adjusts actions as necessary in response to external cues.

Memorize the following list:

Candy, Head, Bear, Farm, Ring, Cat, Jennifer, Necklace, Nine, Pen

Memory

What were the items on the list?

How can you make it easier to remember a list?

PET ScansPositron Emission Tomography

What do you see in the figure below?

Visual Brain Test

List the colors.

Processing words and letters

Read the sentence and count how many letter F’s there are.

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS…
