MAJOR EVENTS OF 2013
In this essay I’ll be telling the major events of 2013 which I think changed the face of the
earth. Bad things happened during the year of 2013 and that really changed the way the world
will operate.
One major event was the death of Nelson Mandela. He changed how blacks and African-
Americans are treated today. He protested against racially that divided South Africa. He was
sent to prison for his actions. Nelson Mandela was there for about three decades. Once he was
free, he became the first South African president they ever had. He was a man very committed
for social justice and peace to be everywhere in the world. He died at the age of 95.
The second major event that changed the face of the earth was the Kenya mall shooting.
This caused for some people to die for no reason. This was caused because of terrorist who
probably had nothing better to do in their lives but to kill innocent people. Their families lost
members that were very dear to them. The shooting was a major event because the mall the
shooting happened in was a popular mall which had a lot of people in it everyday with tourist,
Americans, Africans and all the other kind of races were in there. After that security was
increased to prevent this from happening again.
Another major event of 2013 was the Spain train crash. This train was going 190km/hr
when it was suppose to be going 80km/hr. They said the speed of the train was twice the limit.
All the carriages went off the tracks and that caused for about 170 people to be wounded. This
was the worst train rail accident in Spanish history. The train driver said he was distracted and
this caused the crash to happen.
In conclusion these were some of the major events of 2013. They really changed the
face of the earth and how it will operate now. It might even probably change the minds of
people to help prevent or focus so bad things like the Spain train crash or the Kenya mall shoot
will never happen again.
