“Superman don’t need

“I want to be a queen!”

“...so I can boss everyone around!”

“SERVEONE

ANOTHER”

The Gospel of John 13

Now before the Feast of Passover,

John 13:1

when Jesus knew that his hourhad come to depart out of this

his own who were in the world, heworld to the Father, having loved

loved them to the end....

...a dispute also arose among them as to which one of them

was to be regarded as the greatest....

Luke 22:24ff

Luke 22:24ff

He said to them, ‘...let the greatest among you

become as the youngest, and the leader

as one who serves....

For who is greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it

not the one who reclines at table...?

Luke 22:24ff

For who is greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it

not the one who reclines at table?

But I am among you as one who serves.” Luke 22:24ff

During supper, when the devil had

John 13:2-3

already put it into the heart of JudasIscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,

given all things into his hands, and Jesus, knowing that the Father had

that he had come from God and

was going back to God, rose from

John 13:3-4

supper. He laid aside his outergarments, and taking a towel, tiedit around his waist....

Then he poured water into a basin

John 13:5

and began to wash the disciple’sfeet and to wipe them with the towelthat was wrapped around him....

When he had washed their feet and

John 13:12

put on his outer garments and re-sumed his place, he said to them,

done to you...?“Do you understand what I have

You call me Teacher and Lord, and

John 13:13-14

you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed

one another’s feet...your feet, you also OUGHT to wash

For I have given you an example,

John 13:15

that you SHOULD do just as I havedone to you....

Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant

John 13:16-17

is not greater than his master, noris a messenger greater than the one

things, blessed are you IF you do who sent him. If you know these

them.

He said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and SERVANT of all.”

~ Jesus of NazarethThe Gospel of Mark (9:35)

True greatness does not come

from demanding our rights,

but from serving one another.

1 Consider others as more VALUABLE than yourself

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but

in humility count others as more significant than

yourselves.~ The Apostle Paul

Philippians 2:3

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but

in humility count others as more significant than

yourselves.~ The Apostle Paul

Philippians 2:3 “...to be exceptionally valuable...”

Ruthlessly

SLAY PRIDE

in your life

The real issue here is not IF pride exists in your heart; it’s WHERE pride

exists and HOW pride is being expressed in

your life.

At every stage of our Christian development and in every sphere of our Christian disciple-

ship, PRIDE is the greatest enemy and HUMILITY is

our greatest friend.~ John Stott

Anglican Minister

HUMBLE yourselves before the Lord, and he will EXALT you.

~ James, the brother of Jesus

James 4:10

3 Intentionally take the place of a

SERVANT

Have THIS MIND among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who,

though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be

grasped, but MADE HIMSELF NOTHING, taking the form of a SERVANT….

~ Philippians 2

I am a servant of the servants of Christ.

The Mindset

“How can I help?”

“My pleasure!”

Bank on the

PROMISESof Christ

And whoever gives one of these little

ones a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will be no means lose

his REWARD.~ Jesus of Nazareth

Gospel of Matthew (10:42)

I do want to get a heavy crown in heaven—not to

wear, but to have all the more

COSTLY GIFT to give to Christ....

~ Charles Spurgeon(1834-1892)

And you ought to desire the same, that you may have all the MORE HONOURS,

and so have the MORE TO CAST at his feet, with—

“Not unto us, but unto Your name, O Christ,

be the glory.”

~ Charles Spurgeon(1834-1892)
