L EAD ING FROM THE HEART

Emotions are not just the fuelthat powers the psychologicalmechanism of a reasoningcreature, they are parts, highlycomplex and messy parts, ofthis creature's reasoningitself."

Martha Nussbaum

What is your job as aneducational leader?

Our evolving view ofleadership...

From...demanding to collaborativeexclusive to inclusiveself-serving to other-servingforce to empowerment from one-dimensional to multi-dimensional

What this new view(awareness) nowdemands of us...awareness about our own social & emotional health

fortification of our own social & emotional health

leading by example by modeling heartmind

integration

cocreating safe spaces and environments for

colleagues and those you lead

"Leadership iseveryone's business"

(if not formally at work, certainly in life!)

Leadership Mindsets..

First introduced to "us" via business leaders, visionaries, millionaires, and motivational writers.

Because of changes in:the economy, our struggling educational system,diversity/complexity of our societies, globalization ofeverything, technology, scientific discoveries, our ownawareness about our shared humanity, leadershipmindsets are necessary in all domains of life.

Growth mindset refers to the belief that working hard and persisting

will help you improve at anything, and that abilities are not fixed at

birth.

Selfefficacy refers to a sense of confidence that you are capable of

achieving what you set out to do.

Selfmanagement refers to productive habits such as organization

and delaying gratification.

Social awareness is defined as the ability to work in a diverse group,

to recognize sources of support and to have empathy for others.
