VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (VCU) - DIRT

VCU named DIRT (DIgital Regulation in Traction) is thevehicle main control system responsible for:

• control,

• measuring,

• sequencing,

• protection,

• supervision and

• communication tasks in the whole vehicle.

VCU is based on proprietary hardware and software solutions withthe following characteristics:

VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT (VCU) - DIRT

• completely redundant configuration - 2 channels

• communication with all distributed intelligent units in the vehiclethrough main CAN communication channel

• additional CAN channel for communication with main drives

• communication with man-machine interface unit in the cab

• supports remote diagnostic functions

• programming language, based on block-diagrams, facilitatesthe development of vehicle application program

VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT – front view

input filter and PS PS supervision CPU DI DO CAN + A/D & D/A AI/AO conditioning RS485 isolation

TRACTION CONTROL UNIT (TCU)

• TCU supports tasks (regulation, control, measuring, sequencing, communication) related to the particular part of the vehicle (bogie)

• TCU is a part of the main drive converter. Each converter (3 pcs.per vehicle) powers 2 induction traction motors

• the system is functionaly coupled with the brake control units(BCU)

• certain electronic modules and programming language arecompletely identical to the VCU. It facilitates development, production, commissioning and service.
