THE SURVEY

•FNJ conducted a survey supported by Internews to assess the situation of journalists' usage of Internet.

•1,079 respondents from 71 districts analyzed for report.

•45.3 % of respondents between 20-29 years old; 35.2 % are 30-39 years old.

THEY'RE ONLINE

•87.6 % journalists use internet daily.

•80.5 % Internet using journalists access it at office.

•51.3 % Internet using journalists access it at home.

•12.6 % of them also access Internet on mobile devices.

•45.4 % of respondents try to be online whenever possible.

FACEHOOKED

•70 % journalists use Facebook

•Facebook is second biggest online source of information

•50 % journalists use Twitter

•50 % journalists use YouTube

•40 % journalists use LinkedIn

WHY SOCIAL MEDIA?

More than two-third use it for their professional work to communicate (71%) & seek/exchange information (65.2%).

About 37% use it for research. For 28%, it's a tool of verification information.

More than one-third use if for new ideas & professional development.

18% use social media to publish & distribute contents online.

Journalists also use social media to promote their write ups, get feedback and measure popularity.
