Summary of Gathering BlueGathering Blue, by Lois Lowry, shows us

what its like to live in a futuristic world after a disaster. In the beginning Kira is all alone because her mom died from an illness. Then she goes to the council of guardians. So she gets her own room and meets Thomas the carver. After that she and Thomas find Jo (a little tyke) locked up hostage . Later Matt goes on a long journey and Kira gets worried. When Matt gets back Kira finds out that he brought back blue and his father! After that she finds out Jamison (one of the guardians) is the one who tried to kill him. In the end Kiras dad has to go back to his own village.
