Is a chair ‘ART?’

Fabian Brunsing park bench

Would you pay to sit here?

Artsy chairs

The student will create a mini 3-D chair.

1. Paint a design on sturdy paper.

Finished paintings

2. While it’s drying, draw designs for your chair. Be creative!

Rules: • Your chair must be at least 6 inches tall.• Your chair must stand by itself.• You must add some sort of support.• You can only use glue. (No tape, staples) • Craftsmanship is a MUST!

*The drawing is your 2-D chair because you can only measure the height and width.

*The actual chair after is glued together is your 3-D chair because you can measure the height, width, AND depth.

Draw lots of ideas!

Here are some cool chair ideas:

3. Use a template to start your chair.

This is going to be an “H” shaped chair

Don’t forget to add tabs and folds. This will help you attach the pieces together.

4. Cut out your template and start gluing!

Be patient! Creativity takes time.

Keep your lose pieces in a folder with your name and block number

Use glue only! No tape or staples
