DESCRIPTION

Intellectual property as an asset class is one of the strongest pillars supporting the US economy. Today, more than 80% of the value of the S&P 500 is attributed to intangible assets, of which IP comprises a significant portion. In our global knowledge economy, creativity and ideation are the drivers of corporate prosperity. Pioneering companies thrive in this environment and corporate wealth is predominantly attributable to intangible assets, over tangible ones. Most corporate CEOs agree that innovation is critical, and speak at length about the importance of innovation to their companies. But, simply having an idea is not enough. Innovation alone is not enough. In reality, the secret formula is Innovation + Protection = Prosperity – a formula that should be the underlying premise of business development and growth; a mantra for the C-suite and a holistic way of shifting business practices. Because in today’s market, if you don’t put a value on an idea, someone else will.
