Goal 1

• Professional Education

– To Provide high quality educational programs for Members, particularly those who are practicing in remote areas and are not able to attend the Orthopedic educational programs preferably at lowest cost / free.

Goal 2

• Maintain an Effective Organization

– Periodically assess the concerns of OrthopaedicSurgeons in order to maintain effective communication, the relevancy of the organization, and to encourage their participation. Develop and maintain a mechanism for identifying and training future orthopedic leaders. Maintain an affordable fee structure while ensuring fiscal stability.

Goal 3

• Musculoskeletal Care and Patient Satisfaction

– Create and foster coalitions with public officials, other medical organizations, insurers, health professionals, and consumer groups that will protect patients’ access to appropriate musculoskeletal care.Develop mechanisms to help orthopaedicsurgeons, insurers, and employers maintain and improve patient satisfaction.

Goal 4

• Cohesiveness in Health Care Systems – Exert a leadership role among state orthopedic

associations, the Zonal Orthopedic Association, specialty associations and promote an atmosphere and organizational culture that will foster cooperation, understanding, and the pursuit of a common cause within the Indian orthopedic community. Evaluate and facilitate working relationships between orthopedic surgeons, hospitals and health care systems.

Goal 5

• Practice Management Collect and disseminate information on trends impacting Indian Orthopedic Surgeons and their practice. Promote programs to increase the efficiency of members’ practices.

Goal 6

• Health Policy Develop working relationships and lines of communication with state public officials, consumer groups, medical associations, and third party payors. Oppose health delivery systems that erect barriers between patients and access to orthopaedists. Protect General Orthopedic services from being fragmented by managed care entities.

Goal 7

• Public Education

– Promote Orthopedic community and the specialty of orthopedics by educating the public about the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries . To provide members a platform to interact with public at large to improve the patient-doctor relationship.

My Plan :

• Increasing transparency in IOA functioning.

– Online submission and evaluation of fellowships.

• Developing IOA as an Institution instead of Event Management Company.

My achievements :

– Reforms and activities during Chairman IT of IOA • IOA started its own website www.ioaindia.org• IOA office was completely automated and available on net• Suggested many changes in IOA to make its Global presence felt

– Organizing secretary for IOACON 2013• Special study on Osteoarthritis was taken up and completed• Contributed Rs.50 Lakhs to IOA and will contribute further Rs 40

lakh after clearance of IT department and Service Tax Department• had started new format for the workshop tied up various

International and National Associations which will also be sponsoring young Graduates

• Contributed Rs 10 Lakh to U.P. Orthopedic Association

ACADEMIC

My Plan

– Promote Academics by -• Special benefits to those who helps in making IOA rich by their academic

participation like free Registration in IOACON. Travel grants and Hospitality grant to those who received Medal in previous year conference for collecting the Medal.

• By promoting young Author in helping them publishing their book by way of Grant

• By instituting IOA book Award - to young writer whose book is published in that year

• By introducing a new volunteer scheme who will help IOA to improve standard of academics of various parts of Country

• By providing platform for Academic oriented individuals to post their work on IOA web site, web liner especially more interactive like PG case presentation etc.. rather than dull lectures.

• Creating academic pool of academician (Young and Experienced) of IOA who will visit as ambassadors of IOA and will be presenting their work at various International Platform .

• General• Published papers in International and National journals• Presented papers and delivered lectures in various Conferences• Organized Arthroscopy workshop as organizing Secretary

• Reforms and activities during Chairman IT of IOA • Indian Journal of Orthopedics with its archive made available on net

• Organizing secretary for IOACON 2013– For the first time in the history of IOACON, a study – “Epidemiological

Survey of Osteoarthritis in Indian Population” was conducted in randomly selected rural and urban areas across the country and the findings were presented at the conference.

– In IOACON2013 we have provided 20% fee waiver to all those who participated and enriched academics of IOACON - Guest Lecture, (Submitted Paper selected not selected) and Chairing the session, moderator),

My Plan

• IOA to be socially responsible.

– by taking active part in Nation building in disaster management and Road Safety with hand in gloves with Government of India.

– Organizing PG fest to involve PG’s who are associate member by participating in various competition scientific as well as fun (viz Debates, elocution, as well as sports activities).
