International Day of Happiness

What is Happiness
❖ Happiness is about our lives as a whole: it includes
the fluctuating feelings we experience everyday
but also our overall satisfaction with life. It is
influenced by our genes, upbringing and our
external circumstances - such as our health, our
work and our financial situation. But crucially it is
also heavily influenced by our choices - our inner
attitudes, how we approach our relationships, our
personal values and our sense of purpose.

❖ In 2012, the United Nations (UN) declared
March 20 to be observed as the
International Day of Happiness. By
designating a special day for happiness,
the UN aims to focus world attention on
the idea that economic growth must be
inclusive, equitable, and balanced, such
that it promotes sustainable development,
and alleviates poverty.

Happiness Means Many Things
❖Happiness is a fuzzy
concept and can
mean many things to
many people. Part of
the challenge of a
science of happiness
is to identify different
concepts of
happiness,
I wish everybody to be Happy and Awesome

progress
I am happy with many friends Online Connected Life
❖ Although online relationships will never be as valuable as those we create in person - the internet is still a great tool for spreading good ideas! You can help make the world a happier and more connected place by sharing an inspiring personal message
Research on Happiness
❖ The research shows that we need a change of
priorities, both at the societal level and as
individuals. Happiness and fulfilment come
less from material wealth and more from
relationships; less from focussing on
ourselves and more from helping others; less
from external factors outside our control and
more from the way in which we choose to
react to what happens to us.
Our happiness is not set in stone
❖ Although our genes influence
about 50% of the variation in
our personal happiness, our
circumstances (like income and
environment) affect only about
10%.
❖ As much as 40% is accounted
for by our daily activities and
the conscious choices we
make. So the good news is that
our actions really can make a
difference.
Live with Positive Emotions You are a lesser patient
❖ Optimism and positive
emotion were found to
provide protection
against cardiovascular
disease, to slow
progression of heart
disease and reduce risk,
by around 50%, of
experiencing a
cardiovascular event,
such as a heart attack.
What Mahatma GandhiThinks on Happiness
❖Happiness is
when what
you think,
what you say,
and what you
do are in
harmony
I love a Quote byJohn Lennon
❖Count your
age by
friends, not
years. Count
your life by
smiles, not
tears.”
A loved quote by
Audrey Hepburn
❖The most
important thing
is to enjoy your
life—to be
happy—it's all
that matters.”
Happiness is Better than Bitter Pills of Medicine
❖No
medicine
cures what
happiness
cannot.”
Thank the People who make you Happy
Marcel Proust
❖Let us be grateful
to the people who
make us happy;
they are the
charming
gardeners who
make our souls
blossom.”
You cannot be Happy unless you make some one happy
Mark Twain
❖The best way
to cheer
yourself is to
try to cheer
someone else
up.”
Count the Reasons for HAPPINES
❖Man is fond of
counting his troubles,
but he does not count
his joys. If he counted
them up as he ought
to, he would see that
every lot has enough
happiness provided
for it.
WE ALL CAN TRY TO BE HAPPY WITH
❖ Personal development
to gain self-respect.
❖ Focus on the
positives.
❖ Don’t worry about
what the neighbour
has or may think.
❖ Live purely in the
moment.
Consider to be Happy
The best philosophy
❖ The philosophy of happiness has continued to
have profound influence to this day, both in
intellectual discourse and in everyday
arguments about what is right and wrong. Most
of those who espouse it today are concerned
not only with average happiness but also with
inequalities in happiness: they consider it more
important to reduce misery than to increase
happiness .
