Version 5.4 January 23, 2004

IACRA v2.00

What is IACRA?

IACRA, the Integrated Airman Certification and/or Rating Application, is a web-based application that uses online validation and digital signatures to verify the output data.

Upon successful completion of the file, the Registry issues applicants a permanent airman certificate.

What Does IACRA Do?

• Processes applications for airman certification via the web

• Significantly reduces certification processing time• Interfaces with critical elements of multiple FAA

databases for data validation and verification• Automatically ensures applicants meet regulatory

and policy requirements • Implements use of digital signatures throughout

certification process• Automatically produces results documents

The Integrated ACRA Solution

• Web-Based Architecture• Integrated Databases • Consistent, Intuitive User Interface• Online Context-Sensitive Help• Easy to Administer• Ease of Upgrade & Deployment• Paperless System

IACRA Benefits• Reduction of data errors

through auto checking

• Reduction in the number of rejected applications

• Reduction in the certification processing time

• Reduction in FAA transaction costs

• Adoption of a single airman tracking number

• Uniformity of interpretation of airman certification regulations

• Improved accuracy and filing time for PTRS (1563, 3529, 5529)

• Improved management oversight capabilities

• Promotion of data sharing

• Elimination of distribution of software media

• Compliance with GPEA by mandated Oct. 03 through use of digital signatures

TransitionAt this point, the Applicant Registration is complete and an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) has generated for the applicant, which he records for future use.

The Recommending Instructor must now register (for the purposes of this overview – though in reality , the RI could have registered long before or even after the applicant).

The RI registration is far less complex than the applicant registration. This is due to the validation process IACRA uses to ensure that the data requested from the RI at registration is validated in national FAA databases as being accurate and current.

End IACRA Walkthrough

When Can I Use IACRA?IACRA is being rolled-out regionally. The current rollout schedule is as follows:

Region Rollout DateSO Now AvailableSW Now AvailableGL Feb-04WP Apr-04EA Jun-04NM/CE Aug-04NE/AL Sep-04

IACRA Future Considerations

Future considerations for IACRA interfaces include:

Within the FAA:• Enforcement Information System (EIS)• Accident Incident Data System (AIDS)

Outside Agencies:• National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB)• Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)• Department of Justice (DOJ)• Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS)

Summary

IACRA is an “integrated airman certification process” accessible via the Internet and integrates critical database elements of multiple FAA program databases with the ACRA certification application.

SummaryIACRA automates the system by:

Gathering information from the applicant, Recommending Instructors (RI), and/or the Examiners,

Assigning a FAA Tracking Number (FTN) to every airman,

Checking the existence and scores of knowledge tests taken,

Updating databases accordingly so that information is current,

Providing a single point of entry via the Registration/Login module,

Issuing a results document.

Upon successful completion, the Registry issues the applicant a permanent airman certificate.

Summary

IACRA also makes use of digital signatures – a critical component of the FAA’s strategy for conducting business electronically and for meeting the compliance schedule for the Government Paper Elimination Act.
